I'd just noticed that one of the screw has gone on my RO's clasp which I'd just bought 2 months ago and I don't even know when it was lost..may be a day after purchased or a week or a month?..is this a common issue for all RO or just on the 400 model?
-
Not the first time I heard this for sure

I just noticed it last night. No photo now. Wait I back tonight I try to take one and show here.
Bought in 2 month times only, wore less than 5 times I guess but yet still screw lost..
Is the screw lost under warranty ? which I don't need to pay a single cent on it and even the postage?
-
This is unforgiveable. This is the 2nd time I read of such incident in this form alone and there are not that many members having the APRO. So yes, I think there may be a serious problem with the APRO clasp.
Best consult Hanz how he resolved this problem last year... Good luck!!

If it was purchased from boutique, I believe you could just send it in for repair and definitely foc under warranty. However waiting time is about 8 weeks. If purchased from AD, I'm not sure, but should be foc as well. Had a friend that bought his from AD, sent it in for poor time keeping and it was foc.

Yours is 15400? The 15400 using newer clasp which different from 15300 and 15202.
Loo, rest assure your jumbo are safe and would not hv this screw missing problem... :Laughing_on_floor:

yes. Mine is 400...
-
First I heard of this was from Hanz. Second time when I was at AP Service Centre in Singapore. Going through the AD or boutique takes from 4-8 weeks due to the time taken to ship to/from Singapore and I don't think they send out the watch immediately.
Want a fast fix? Go to AP Service Centre in SG directly and it can be done in under 15 minutes. Call ahead to make an appointment even better.
Under warranty, the repair is free. And if you visit the APSC directly, be nice and maybe you'll get some freebies... :)
-
Damn, this is distressing to read. But I've also had problems with other expensive watches before e.g. Chrono stopped working on IWC Pilot, and power reserve issue with brand new JLC Reverso. These watches are hand-made and are bound to have some imperfections. Want a high quality product - get a mass produced watch like a Casio :-)

Dennis,
Hahaha....not that I don't believe you. But I checked nonetheless; all good (still!!!!) phew.... :Praying:
John,
The boutique in KL only sends watches to the Singapore SC for servicing and maintenance once every month. You can check with them to confirm. If you are able to travel to Singapore with convenience, it may be faster to just bring it to the SC yourself.

Yes, its a common problem. I had mine replaced once, it as loosen again, then they replace the whole clasp the second time. I could not believe they did not address the problem on new batches.
While they will do it FOC, it is a biatch to take time off to go to the service centre.
-
With a proper application of Loctite, this should never happen again
-
Wow that's terrible. RO's are too damn expensive for this to happen.

I would say AP's quality is not as high as its fame :HammerHead:

Hahaha...I wish I was bull-shitting. The culprit is not the bracelet, it's the bloody crown. I often have my wrist bulu plucked and you'll find them stuck between the crown and the case...  Add: The other fora are all filled with bullshits and horse shits. Only postings in mwf can be trusted!!!

Had mine for abt 19months. Sent it in for the compulsory water resistant test, came back abt 3weeks ago. Then last week, this happened..... :Blue:
(http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/ag111/Tsw80/Mobile%20Uploads/20140620_133640_zps38764e64.jpg) (http://s1301.photobucket.com/user/Tsw80/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140620_133640_zps38764e64.jpg.html)
And worse part is, the boutique imply that there will be a charge.

Charge you??? They must be mad. I think one of you trinity (Hanz, John and TSW) should copy this link (of this thread) into an e-mail and send to AP whether in Switzerland or Singapore.
-
Should not be charged if it's still under warranty.
You can highlight my case to them as well as it's the same problem.
This is becoming a really common problem.
-
If this is happening frequent enough, and I'm sure not only within this forum, wouldn't AP acknowledge the design flaw and offer a free remedy to this, some sort of a recall like to replace the folding clasp with an newer design?
Who knows, perhaps they're already working on this.
-
My royal oak had had hair spring problem and my offshore had had date train jammed issue before, luckily both under warranty. From my minimum experience with AP, it really gave me the impression that the quality is not as high as its fame!
-
another... 3rd piece in MWF encounter same problem!
so if it s not design or manufacturing fault then is MWF :Laughing_on_floor:
maybe shd learn from the Ball watch owner in MWF earlier, demand a one to one watch change...
-
I agree that AP quality is terrible. Could even be classified as junk. Save yourselves any more pain. I'll offer you 60% of current used market value for them. Thanks!
:Laughing_on_floor:
-
I feel that the bracelet issue is not worth making a big fuss over. More importantly it is the watch itself, which I feel is amazing.
I love the aesthetics and colour of my AP, and I've not even started on the movement.....
However with that said, I'm still a little cheez off with the payment thing for repair works.
Similarly to what sir dp kong mentioned, I'll definitely take off anyone's hands their 'junk' with 40% off used price.
-
Driving around with my AP.

If I got a dime every time I heard that....
Strangely, it is becoming quite a common occurrence. But then of course, compared to the number of watches sold, it doesn't seem that bad unless we have official statistics.

I believe Rolex is selling 10 times more watches and we are seeing less of these mechanical problems.
-
With all the problems cropping up, it does seem disheartening.
Disappointment is surely there but I would not bee too protective of the brand.
Let's be real here. we're spending good money for a piece of metal that occupies prime real estate on our wrists, of course we want everything to be perfect.
The only good thing that can come of this is we get to experience what the after sales service is like.
Sometimes I feel that after sales service have been overlooked in the whole ownership experience.
I have mentioned before that if the after sales service is bad, I would not hesitate to ditch a brand.
No brand is above criticism and no brand is protected from criticism.
As for Rolex, yes they do sell 10 times more watches but they do have QC issues as well.
My sis' perpetual datejust stopped after a couple of months.
My wife's previous perpetual date comes with a piece of dust under the sapphire crystal.
Both cases, the Rolex centre handles the problem swiftly so it's only fair to let it go instead of holding grudges.
My AP, with the same clasp pusher problem was sent back to AP under warranty.
Also they handled it good. So, I will just let it slide as well.
Only gripe is staying in a small town, the turnaround time is 6 weeks.
If I am physically close to a service centre, I am sure the problem can be rectified in 15 minutes. (as dpkong witnessed)
I do feel that sometimes, internet complaints are not really an indicative of the overall failure rate.
True Rolex makes a million watches or so a year.
AP makes 35-40k pcs a year.
A Rolex owner may not voice out every complaint about every little issue with their watches, most might not be internet savvy.
AP owners on the other hand are pretty honest in voicing out the problems that they have and I for one find it admirable.
We also know that in this hobby, flipping watches is the norm, that's why some are not comfortable in voicing out problems with their watches for the fear of lowering the resale value.
Thank god no one says in here (could have said it inside though)
"What an idiot, spending that kind of money buying a sub par quality watch"
But 1 thing I can be pretty sure (not 100% though) is that even with these minor quirks, AP owners will still keep theirs... and even buy more... Weird? Yeah...

Good write up... but I know a brand with little or no issues.... oh wait... complains get suppressed....
To me, I look at complains as a way for the brand to improve. You have an input of how the design is or is not working and what are the real world issues with the watch. Many brands don't focus on the after sales, or have poor after sales. They are only interested in the upfront sales and not the back end issues. Sad but true. To me, a great brand is one that offers great experience all the way, from buying to wearing and to supporting the watch if and when it fails.
-

Good points raised.
Similar reactions from Car ownership. I think it is a known fact that BMW car need "more maintenance" than, say Lexus. the problems may be a few times more. Some owners would "shoot down" those who raised their grumble on certain poor quality issues fearing it may affect their own resale value.
The Brand power of BMW (nick name "Banyak Masuk Workshop") is so strong that, some of the "CIS" would treat going to workshop every 2-3 months as normal (for breakdown repair, not service) and they really enjoyed sharing their hefty repair bill on the net. Many quoted the tow truck company is their best friend. and BMW is still the best selling premium sedan car now.
