Title: Omega Speedmaster 3513.50.00

Hello,

I am considering acquiring a pre-owned watch of above model.  This watch uses Caliber 1152 movement.  When I move the watch, it seems to 'vibrate' quite a bit, unlike other automatic watches that I have which remain relatively silent.  Is this normal behaviour for this watch/movement?

Yes, it is a signature for 7750-based watches.. e.g. 7751 and 7750

I have a Ball Ionosphere chronograph watch which uses 7750 movement.  When I place it horizontally on my palm and move it from left to right, I do feel a mild vibration, which is not that noticeable.

However, for this Omega Speedmaster, ( I beileve Caliber 1152 is based on 7751 movement, ) when I do the same, the vibration is quite noticeable. 

I was wondering if 7751 vibrates more that 7750?   Appreciate your feedback.

7750 is one way winding rotor... clockwise if i'm not mistaken... depend how you swing in but in general, all 7750 (or 775* family) will wobble/shake strongly when you swing your watch (like sshark mentioned)... Maybe the Ball have do something in the movement to reduce this? not too sure but i think that's normal.. so no need to worry really ;)

That's the way 7750 rotor spin to wind up ur barrel creating the wobble effect!

It's whether u like n enjoy it or u dislike the roughness!

That begs the question why does 7750 spin so "strong" compared to others calibers like Lemania 5100 and ETA 2894?

Yea either you hate it, like it or accept it like I did. I used to own the previous version of the speedmaster day-date .

I for one enjoy that characteristic hehe.
Maybe the casing thickness is diff in the Ball so you notice it less.

Thanks to all for your feedback which is extremely helpful.

Indeed the Ball Ionosphere casing is very thick as well as the casing size (43mm) bigger compared with Omega Speedmaster with casing size (39mm) and thinner casing.  This may explain why Ball vibration is milder compared with the Speedmaster.

That should explain it ;)

For example, Panerai 104 (44mm) and 48 (40mm) using the same movement which is 7750. Compare these 2, pam48 have stronger wobble compare to pam104... i think that's also because of the case too ;)

Hello Scott,

Looks like casing size and thickness also affects how much we feel the vibration.  Will post some photos this weekend.
