Simply by asking for suggestions from the Rolex and Panerai range for your budget, can I safely assume that you are looking for a sports watch? Does is have to be brand new? Or do you mind a used one?

With that amount you can either get a new panerai base model or a pre own Rolex sports watch. regards tony

For that budget, there's a wide variety of watches to suit your taste. Are you looking for a sports watch or dress watch?

I would go for a Zenith El-Primero. Should be within your budget after discount.

Thanks for the suggestion
it will be much helpful is you could provide the exact model number of the watch.
i would prefer a brand new watch for daily wear.
the budget could go up to 20k if the watch is beautiful.

If you can push up to 20k, then the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 / Power Reserve should be a damn good buy

Pre-owned or new?
Can go for pre-owned rolex sub 16610 (15-17k), or no date for even less at 13k plus minus.

A rolex or panerai is still the best as they hold value. Unlike others which drops a fair bit over the years. Pre-owned is the best.

From your forum name, I assume you love Mercedes Benz.

Since you love Mercedes, Rolex shall be your choice as Rolex's hour marker 'star' matches those on the Mercedes car.  ;D

Daily watch, then must have date function. My personal choice would be Sub Date C (116610) or Explorer II (216570).

Both Sub C or Explorer II will stretch your budget over RM20K for brand new set.

Now the choice is yours.

Get either the second hand submariner or GMT master II. It will hold its value in years to come

I recently let my 3717 Pilot's chrono go...but then I started to get the IWC itch again. And somehow the mark III bracelet on this Mark XVII was appealing. It is a bit of a struggle as on one hand...I seem to be moving towards watches of a smaller diameter. On the other, this clean looking watch is very attractive in it's own seductive way.

Similar to you I also didn't have anything pulling me towards Panerais and Rolexes. However, after trying a Rolex on, I was smitten by a particular model and never looked back. Panerais, however, will have to keep working it's magic on me... :)

Back to the OP, I would also try out the Rolex Explorer I

im now in delimma.... theres a nice used 3777 chrono in the members sales forum, but im still leaning towards a new mark xvii (1 reason is that i prefer a large seconds hand on my watch)

I like both. Mark xvii with metal bracelet is about same Price as the chrono with leather. I really love the iwc bracelet

As a daily beater watch the mark xvii is lighter and less 'showy'. But I'm still making up my mind.not yet confirm which one I will end up with
