Title: New Incoming - Just Arrived!!!
Post by: ewch on April 01, 2014, 01:51:30 PM
Hi All,

Haven't been posting or visiting the forum for quite awhile. Been busy.

Just had a new incoming arrived! Thought I should share my joy. It is a gadget watch, the new design Seiko Astron GPS. Got it directly from Japan. Much more reasonable price that I can get from the local AD!! They even throw in a watch box as well.

The Seiko is quite a beast at 48mm x 18mm thick but wears very well on my 7" wrist due to the downward sloping lugs and it is comfortable too I must admit. Syncing to GPS is very easy and works on my first try. Weight wise is ok as it is not light at almost 140g but I am use to heavy watches.

Kenji1903 - not good at writing but will try to post a review one day after spending some time with it hopefully.

Hanz079 - Functions wise, there aren't much which are unique. Basically, it syncs with GPS to get the correct time and can recognise your position in term of time zone and sets itself correctly. You can check your time zone by pressing a button and it will tell your time zone by indicating GMT+? (i.e. KL is GMT+8). It also has DST (daylight saving time) setting which will advance the time 1hr but not relevant to Malaysia. It can also be set on flight mode when flying to avoid interference with flight system. So far I can say most of the functions can be used in Malaysia.

Dare not say I'm the 1st to get the 2014 model. It is already available here at their ADs. Just too darned expensive to pull the trigger locally. Suffice to say that buying directly from Japan can save enough to get another mid-range Seiko.
