Hey there, congrads on your first step to getting a nice watch for yourself.
My first was a Tag too, cause i love the design. Still happily owning it too however after you get the first, chances of a second is very likely.
Now my Taggie sits in my watch box all day long.
If you r thinking of keeping it for a long time, then any watch you like is fine.
However as per my knowledge, Taggies dont really have a good resale value
thus it might depreciate alot more compared to some other brands if u r planning to upgrade in the future.
Hope this helps in your decision making. I am a Grand Carrera owner myself

As an ex-owner of 2 TAGS and a Heuer before it became TAG, I can only advise that at that price level of RM8,500 to RM10,000 you have many alternative excellent choices such as new Omega, Tudor, Grand Seiko or pre-owned IWC, Rolex, JLC, GO.
If after comparing a TAG watch vs another brand with an equivalent movt. e.g.
TAG cal 8 vs ETA 2892-A2 (on which cal 8 is based)
TAG cal 1887 vs Seiko 6s37 (on which 1887 is based)
7750 powered TAG vs other brands with 7750
and you prefer the TAG's look at TAG's price, you should then go ahead as you will be the one to be looking at and appreciating your watch daily.

Buy only because you like it, not because it is cheap. You will have lot of choices at 8-10k range like Omega, Longines, ML, B&R, B&M, etc. Don't forget to chheck out Omega Moonwatch, the most affordable classic!
Guess 99.99% of us lose money in this hobby, it is only a metter of how much is the actual loss. As long as you like it, you will enjoy owning and looking at it. Then the loss is nothing, just a small price for the enjoyment.

I have always like Tag Heuer since the classic 2000 days and I must say that their design has improved by leaps and bounds since then. I have always like the understated beauty of the Aquaracer and Carrera series, and the Carrera 1887 looks the part for me. Good luck in your choice!

The only Tagheuer I want ;D

Same for me, but I can't quite justify the price. The black dial is a more reasonable price but does not appeal anywhere near so much.
-
Personally, when buying a watch,
First - do i like the watch
Second - is the price ok?
If both checks out, i'll buy it. For me, buying a watch is about whether i like it or not and not the resale value.

I bought it from the AD which offers quite a good discount.
I did call Tancho and enquire about the PO but was told that someone had booked the watch.

Good buy bro! As a beginner, most people will consider a TAG for the first premium watch, so do I.... After u owned it for some times, u felt like going to higher range like Rolex, Pam, etc.... Watches never enough!

Congratulations. Excellent choice in getting the 8500 PO.
I've had mine for about 9 months and I still enjoy looking at it.
The 8500 movement is good too.
