Title: Jaeger-leCoultre Amvox 2 (500 pc Concept Ltd Edition black PVD Titanium)
Post by: JOS2012 on February 23, 2014, 03:30:10 PM
The JLC Amvox is a range which is co-branded with Aston Martin.
The words Amvox is made up of 2 parts, 'Am' stands for Aston Martin and 'vox' stands for voice-alarm.

If you look carefully you will see the AM logo at the 6 o'clock part of the dial in the first 2 pictures and I love the inconspicuous execution.
Brash and loud designs esp huge brand logos flashing out 'in your face kind of execution' leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Many of the Amvox models are designed with cues taken from Aston Martin cars and latest models incorporate transponders to open the car door of Aston Martin models. Unfortunately an AM is out of my range esp in bolehland.. I drive a teutonic car instead.

Generally Amvox models are associated with alarms however I like a mix of complications in my collection.

For alarm, the JLC Polaris as it is a historically important part of JLC, besides being an iconic and relatively rare model.

For business travel, the Reverso Grande GMT with easy timezone setting.

For office formal wear, the white gold Master Moon…a very understated looking watch with triple date and moon phase...

For chronograph I chose Amvox 2 because this is the only chronograph model whether by JLC or by any other manufacture where the activation, stop and re-set is all done without the traditional 2 button pushers beside the traditional crown but instead are crystal activated, a JLC patent.

I like each of my watches to have a unique quality or feature to set it apart from the other watches in my mini collection.

A close up of the dial to show the intricate 3D work done on the dial… not a simple machine stamped flat non-dimensional dial for an Amvox

Closeup showing the beautiful black PVD titanium T5 material used in the case.
The slider on the 9 o'clock controls the chronograph activation with 3 positions.
One allows activate, stop and reset.
One allows only activation and stop but no reset
The 3rd position locks activation, stop and reset n case of accidental triggering once you have recorded a laptime.

The single signed JLC crown on a chronograph is a hint that this is not a conventional chrono design

The gorgeous and complex casework at the back. It is not for cosmetics but is integral to the design of the chronograph's activation and reset.

Chris,
u r welcome. From time to time I've been asked to do photo review of some watches and some are months overdue.

dial is complex? haha... I'm a confused person.. sometimes I like super simple dials like Nomos, other times I like complex dials like this Amvox..
all depends on my mood when  I wake up every morning..

No, the hour markers are not luminous... but the 2 chrono sub dials wheels are...

Laktos Kid,
thanks for your comments..

Thanks for sharing this Jos.

Though I not a fan of the colour coordination of the AMVOX series, but I must say that case is beautifully done!

I'd probably spend more time looking at the side if I'm wearing this. Wear in good health!

I am very much like you Jos. At times, I like complicated dials like my Stratos Striking 10th and for other occasions, absolutely love the simplicity of my Nomos Ludwig. As they say, variety is the spice of life.  Absolutely love the Amvox 2. Great review as usual!

Always wanted an AMVOX, but none of them work with my car.

That AMVOX 2 is very nice, and I had no idea it was a crystal activated chrono. Super cool.
