Hi All, need advice, what should i buy for RM12 - 15k, im looking for new auto/mechanical with date, power reserve min 3 days, gmt is a bonus.
thanks in advance

Anything that catches your eye...
-
I would say Omega Seamaster or Planet Ocean
-
Is it only me? I do felt all the requirements sounded like a Grand Seiko.

AFAIK no Swiss/German made GMTs have up to 72 hour PR (mostly are maximum 55-60 hr PR) unless its the JLC Grande GMT which is a hand wind 8 day (192 hr) PR but that would be 3 times the TS' proposed budget.
All latest GS from 2010 comes with 72 hour PR except the hi-beat which is 55 hours due to the hi-beat, so yes based on your parameters, only a GS GMT could give you 72 hr PR, if that is most impt to you..
Being partial to GS as well as a few Swiss/German manufactures, I didn't want to propose a GS at this point in time as I wondered which other makes/models could meet your stated requirements…
Any of the GS in these pictures will meet the requirements and fits the budget perfectly...

Thanks all
anything catches my eyes? its PAM233 but way above my budget :'(
havent tried GS before, any suggestion of outlet in KL? maybe will drop by to try.
Guess my limitation is PR and GMT so to open up for more choices, what is to buy for that amount of money with auto, day and date.
-
So far you can find GS from these two places, Sunway Pyramid and Paradigm mall...these are the 2 AD. That to the best of my knowledge. I am sure other members will be able to point you to other places to look/see/purchase them.
America Watch Dealers & Trading Co.
Lot GF-02, The Paradigm Mall, No.1, Jalan SS7/26A,
Kelana Jaya, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
SEIKO Boutique managed by City Chain
Lot LG 1. 112, Lower Ground One, Sunway Pyramid, No. 3, Jalan PJS 11/15,
Bandar Sunway, 46150 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Good luck and do let us know what your decision is. You can't go wrong with a GS and till date, as with JOS2012, it remains my favourite watch.

PAM 233 is a nice piece if you can spare the budget for it which is triple like shamtv2555 mentioned... but GS fit your budget well which gives you good movement and finishing.

Personally, I LOVE Grand Seiko. Probably my favourite watches (well, I'm a sucker for King Seiko, too). But if you're hankering for a 233, a GS is about as far from that as you could get while still being a watch. If you buy a GS you probably won't be at all satisfied (it's tiny in comparison, and the styling is extremely restrained, and nobody but you will realise how incredibly awesome your watch is). Unfortunately for you, shamtv is right on the money - keep saving mate!

After u got the budget on the pam233, u might think of getting AP or pam bronzo or other similar budget watch, btw think 1st, which sing more aim one only, or else u r super rich rich guy

That 233 was actually my reply to 'what catches your eyes', my budget is way too small for that. And no, im not rich let alone super rich. Im currently aiming for Rolex Sub but need to top up a bit, past few days experience.....the frequent your visit AD, the more contemplated you are and you'll end up spending more.

Check up IWC new basic Ingenieur 40 mm. You may get it within your budget. Good luck!
-
Ingenieur should be about US$3,800, but does it have 72 hr PR? And definitely no GMT.
-
I believe only Pam 320 that meet the criteria of 72 pr plus gmt. You will have to up your budget and make sure you like the size of the Pam 1950 case.
-
a PAM or IWC will be my choice ;)

I think you might have to top up quite a lot for Rolex Sub - unless you opt for a pre-owned.
I second the IWC Ingenieur, as mentioned by some user here. Otherwise, Pelagos or Blackbay might be a good alternative for R.sub - which fits your budget. My 2 cents.

Where did you find the 40mm Ingy selling at that price? If I'm not mistaken, the retail price is USD 6600 and even after 20% discount for example it is still above USD 5000.
-
Hate to say it ... for me , it will be a base panerai !! oooucccch !!! even i dont mind to have one now if my budget permits!
-
I was talking to AD in KLCC in 2nd half last year and the price was within the range.
Didn't pull the trigger coz I went for others ;D
-
Preowned Pam will slightly on your budget...
-
Panerai 000, 005
Tudor Blackbay in blue
-
GS, or a Rolex Subby.
-
I really like the understated status but premium feel of a Grand Seiko. It's there on your wrist, and most would thought that it was just a normal Seiko; but the connoisseurs would give you a polite nod in relations to your exquisite taste. Happy hunting, mate!

Exact reason why I love the GS
-
Well, you have a decent budget there, just go around, try different brand, get some feeling, once you narrow down to 1-2 brand/ model, then you can decide yr own or post here, we help you to decide, but a lot of times, getting more confuse ...In any case, Happy hunting, no rush

Omega Speedmaster, Tudor Blackbay

Merely giving him more options. Sometimes, members may initially want a new piece but ended up buying a preowned with the same budget. Have seen that happening here quite a few times.
And as you can see from the earlier replies here, there were suggestions that doesn't really fit the all the descriptions 100%. A few nice models were suggested here, but then, is the thread starter willing to fork out the extra cash and go above his price range?
So while one can list down his/her preferences for the next watch, others should be welcome to suggest something different and throw him a curveball ;D. That's the fun of hunting for a watch and starting a thread to ask for opinions. You'll never know what's coming. As long as its within the limit of politeness and respect to any watch brand and also to the thread starter. I am not advocating for example, if someone ask which model of brand X to buy with a RMxxx-xxx budget and then we reply `why you so stupid? Brand X is useless and lousy, go brand Y instead'.
To me, its a matter of how wide the thread starter would like to scout around for this purchase, and how flexible he is willing to be.
cheers!

Usually will end up with an Omega PO or Tagheuer Carrera :Laughing_on_floor:

Hmmmm... If we were to give opinions based 100% on what the TS requires... I think the proper answer will be:
There is a Tissot Powermatic 80 which is an automatic (check), time and date (check) watch with 80 hours power reserve (check) and wait a minute... damn it... it costs 4-5k... Can't have em all I guess.... ;D

No shame in that- both are GREAT timepieces with plenty of followings

Shame on you for misleading information. You should now refrain from logging into the forum for 6 months (which will also help in resisting purchase of new watches) at least.

Have mercy....Is it possible for me to `retract' my statement? Seems like the norm in our country today... ;D
anyway, better bring this thread back on track since I am allegedly responsible for this fiasco... ;D
I am not a keen observer of PR , except those expensive 7, 8 days pieces. What's the usual PR of a GS within this price range?
