Title: The best ideal watch (or the perfect watch) if there is such a watch. sigh!
Post by: David_cheong on June 24, 2010, 03:18:08 PM
In your primitive mind on the best ideal watch

The best ideal watch should / must have the following criteria

(Point form; not necessary in orderly manner)
A)   An understated watch,
B)   Uncluttered dial / neat contrast / good luminous
C)   Sapphire glass with anti-glare coating / sit on level with bezel (so that glass not easily chipped off)
D)   Looks like a non date at first glance but when needed the date, its there.
E)   Water resistance at least 200m
F)   Anti-magnetic
G)   Reasonable build material – 316L stainless steel (no tegimented treatment / shell effect breakage, no PDV  or PCV or whatever)
H)   Within COSC specifications, -2 to + 4 sec / day.
I)   Respectable price list / reasonable priced
J)   Respectable brand name
K)   Comfort wear / not too bulky / not too heavy but just nice and feel good – personally.
L)   Protection against odds on all elements under normal usage.
M)   Bracelet not hair puller.
N)   Can wear for all occasionally or 24/7
O)   Make strong presence in the world of horology
P)   Not too large / not small either diameter approx. 36 – 42mm
Q)   Not too expensive to service at 5 years intervals
R)   Movements’ easily recognizable / spare parts easily available / movement’s good reputation for the past 40 years or so. Practically any skilled watch technician can do service it
S)   Construction and assemble of complete watch using latest technology
T)   Solid screw back and screw crown
U)   Swiss / Germany / Japanese made.
V)   And the list goes on and on and on……………

I can only think of the following Brand / make…...(fall under the above category)

1)   Brand; Sinn. Model; 656. (dc)  :Laughing_on_floor:
2)

For me, as the Chinese saying goes ‘Mai Fa Chan Fa Heong’
Roughly translated as ‘Flower vendors always praise their wares (flowers) smell good’

no offense but i am so dissapointed with Sinn's build quality and after sales service. they are growing too big for their own good.

paints and lumes are not up to par.

A perfect watch according to my wallet right now IMHO would be:

a. 14060 non COSC
b. PAM 112 or 000
c. PAM 233

The best ideal watch should / must have the following criteria

(Point form; not necessary in orderly manner)
P)   Not too large / not small either diameter approx. 36 – 42mm - 45mm[/color]
Q)   Not too expensive to service at 5 years intervals - atleast SGD 1k
R)   Movements’ easily recognizable / spare parts easily available / movement’s good reputation for the past 40 years or so. Practically any skilled watch technician can do service it - P200x movement is quite new but since it was design by JLC so I believe is passable to meet this requirement

hey mate,

233 can't fit into above requirement but at that price for a high PR watches with GMT function i wlll say is reasonable ...double

i do agree with Terrence..the Sinn quality are not up to par..

my perfect watch list would be:
a. Explorer I
b. Air King
c. PAM 233

I can think of one: MIH. But then some of the criteria above are not really key considerations to me as ideal watch. For example, my AS iKrono is an ideal weekend watch for me.

my grail would be a vintage panerai reference 6154 Little Egiziano which runs on a rolex 618 workhorse, a vintage pam ref. 6152 4 liner Luminor panerai Marina Militare SF240 8 day angelus, a 3646 California... and for something more realistic yet wayyyy off my budget... a pam 339 composite marina militare radiomir...

what can i say... im a pam freak and its pamtastic!
