expensive? its relatively cheaper than most swiss brand for a 300m divers...
1. design is legendary - and forever look good type
2. the steel used for the case is better than cheaper seiko
3. the level of finish on case and bracelet
4. the movement - 8L35 is a much better movement than normal seiko
5. the dial and hands is very well made, just a class below grand seiko, so call the best finishing
beside all the above...
its simply gorgeous ! put it side by side with a sub?
without looking at brand, it is a much better looking watch.... try a pepsi coke test and see?
yes - its mono case, movement need to take out from front, hence the tool to open the bezel might not be able to find!
but its service cost is not as expensive as most swiss brand

Actually, the bezel of the SBDX001 can be removed very easily by using a normal pen-knife. The movement can also be removed rather easily with normal watch-opening tools. This is what I remember........
(1) Remove the bezel with a pen-knife.
(2) Once the bezel is removed, you will find the thin circular resistance spring. Actually, it's the same system used in most Seiko divers. The spring can be removed with your fingers.
(3) You will see 2 screw rings surrounding the crystal. The inner ring retains the crystal only. The outer ring retains the inner ring (plus the crystal) to the case much like a sapphire caseback which you normally find. So, if you wish to remove the entire construction, unscrew the outer ring by turning CLOCKWISE.
(4) Once removed, you will now see the exposed dial. The chapter ring and O-ring gasket can be removed using your fingers.
(5) There should be a stem release button at the 16 or 17 minute mark. You can release the crown stem system by pressing onto it.
(6) After that, you can remove the entire movement with care.
(7) The 8L35 is basically an undecorated Grand Seiko Cal.9S55 you find in the older Grand Seikos.
Good luck. Open at your own risks. ;D ;D

MM300 according to me is the best 'value for money' if you need a diver watch at a budget of 1000 - 2000 USD
both from the design, movement and finishing, MM300 is far above other watch at same price range

The mm300 is indeed a very intriguing diver. There's a lot of comparison with the submariner. IMHO each has its character. I'd gladly use the mm300 as my daily beater
