Title: which is ur favourite sub?
Post by: terrenceterrence on June 21, 2010, 12:53:01 AM
Thinking of getting a Sub ND but after some poisoning by sshark to have a look at a LV for their maxi dial, i am lost.

so if i put a LV into the equation, i might as well welcome the GMT IIc S/S into the shortlist because it's jsut slightly more..in terms of cost but way ahead in features in terms of looks.

so which one would you guys prefer?

a. 14060
b. 16610 LV
c. GMT IIc

and why?

14060 for me. Not a fan of cyclop myself.
IMHO, without date is the true and original submariner. Not to mention its simplicity and clean look.

I vote the 14060 as well. Clean and legible dial. very pure.
IMO the GMT should not be in here as well as its not a Sub. Price range is much more also.
Why not think bout the non LV version?

Hi terence,
I was in exact same situation last month,
Sub Date or GMTIIc?

I ended up with a 16610 sub date, because it's discontinued.
Why not LV?
because the AD i was in doesn't have one that time. both looks good on my wrist though(tried both before in other place) ;D

Btw,
I can get a GMTIIc easily anytime, anywhere in the future.
hope this will help, but then again buy whatever you like man!

cheers,
ck

Hi Terrence,
I think you should also consider including the Rolex Sea-Dweller, ref 16600 into your list. It's definitely a member of the venerable Rolex Submariner family, with a deeper depth rating. For those who prefer to have a date function without the distraction of the cyclops lens then the Sea-Dweller is definitely the way to go. Personally I prefer the additional thickness and heft of the Sea-Dweller which simply translates into a more substantial feel on one's wrist.

Yes, i don't like the cyclops too and love the SD and DSSD ;)

and if you like the ceramic bezel, how about DSSD? bigger case size, ceramic bezel, upgrade bracelet, date with no cyclops

Wah... nice picture. In real life, would you subject your sd/dssd to ice treatment?.

For me, I would definitely no. What say you? your thought.

tried both the SD and the DSSD before and did not like the height of both.

you guys are right....maybe it's time to get a 14060M non COSC cause it's might be discontinued whereas the 116710 would be here for quite some time. now to find a good complete one.

whahah yeah SShark bought a new GMTiic

my colleague bought that while he was stuck in Milan during the volcanic ash fiasco.

damn funny..2 guys so bored of waiting that they decided to get a GMTiic each. maybe it;s also because they know their overseas accumulated allowance would be kau-kau so what the heck might as well right?

no lah...wait for the green sub...

Sshark is standing by cash for that one also.

yarlor but with a LV costing in between  SGD 6.5 - 8.0k in the grey market depending on condition and age...

i can easily get a GMTiic from overseas within that price range too. so that's why i placed it into the equation because for that kind of money i can get one model with more bells and whistles at the same price range.

must be a bit kiasu mar...whahhaha

I thk e new green sub would not become the lemon watch…just thk which model of rollie watches ever become lemon?? ???  Thanks for their wonderful marketing strategy by giving the majority the feeling of owning a rolex means achieving something in your life or milestone...

e new green sub is too striking for me however still prefer to feel the real watches.

something funny i read in rolexforum today as to why the Sub ND is better than the Sub Date

"There is a simple rule, a date will always cost you and as you state a date is not cheap to maintance.

It's been even more costly when you marry her."

just to share
