Title: For all Seiko Black/Orange Monster Owners
Post by: danny on April 02, 2009, 08:16:48 AM
Hi guys,
I noticed from one of David's post that he owned a Seiko Orange Monster. I believe there are other Seiko OM/BM fans amongst our forum members. Just want to share the good news that Seiko has recently launched 2 JDM upgrades of the Seiko OM/BM.

While the original OM/BM use the venerable 7S26 calibers, these new models use the 6R15 caliber which feature hacking and hand winding capability.

The usual Japanese internet retailers have these models in stock.

Danny - thanks for sharing.
They worth a check-out, but not at our shores yet?

The orange monster with solid back (200m) - has now ceased production and the current production models (100m) are fitted with the see-through back (not sure of the model no.) .

I have the pleasure of owning this orange monster, which takes me to places and to heavy duty out door activities.

Cheers
DC

Hi Guys the other day Yong (graham/british masters) and myself had teh tarik with Yen, then we went to Summit lower ground watch shop and we saw 2 versions of a new model looks like a steve mcqueen GMT with the extra big GMT indicator.

Btw David what heavy duty outdoor activities do you do that requires a heavy duty watch may I suggest something like this http://images.google.com.my/images?gbv=2&hl=en&ei=TnPUSb6yFs-AkQXvl6D0Dg&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=audemars+piguet+survivor&spell=1

Cheers,
Henry

David,
I believe these are JDM (Japan Domestic Market) models, and hence not meant for export. Need to order through the usual Japanese internet retailers.

Silverstan,
Compass bezel instructions can be found here: Seiko Compass Bezel (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b285/Thomazyeo/CompassBezelInstructions.jpg)

Saw the new monster in the famous Japan internet retailer.

•Movement: Malaysia, Cased in China
•Case: SS
•Bracelet: SS
•Crystal: Hardlex
•Size without the Crown: 41 mm
•Movement: 7S26 movt.

I am wondering why the huge price difference with the current OM/BM. RM600 vs USD418  ???
Those are the same 7S26 movement made in Malaysia, same stainless steel too  :o
Anyone can confirm the current OM/BM is discontinue? I still can see a lot in the market.

There were some rumours circulating on the internet that the monsters had been discontinued. Turned out not to be true. You can still find the monsters around. Just saw both OM and BM at a dealer in Pertama Complex, apparently fresh stock from Seiko, so the monsters are very much alive.

Hi, I am new here. Own Black Monster since 6 years ago, got it in Japan. Like it very much as its toughness and solid look. I was at KLIA last October, looking around at one watch boutique there. The sales person saw my BM and said that the BM selling in that boutique was brought in a couple months ago, which mean it was still new in that boutique.

My OM shot. Its original strap was disintegrated after 8 yrs of wearing occasionally. Its bracelet was purchased and on its way, now just put on the Citizen rubber strap first.

My 2 kids ( 4 and 5 yrs) like this OM very much. They call OM as "orange" or "coconut" watch. They even shoot my OM with pinang fruit.
