Title: Advice on new watch
Post by: Devilzzz44 on October 10, 2013, 07:24:43 AM
Hi all Sifu's and MWF members,

I'm planning to reward myself with an IWC Aquatimer Chronograph (Rubber Strap) but i just cant made up my mind whether to pull the trigger on this piece or not. Is this model worth the money in terms of quality? Is there any other brand which within the same range of the price? All advice from ya'all is greatly appreciated

not sure the price range for this , but if you were to state your budget & the type of watch that you like e.g. diver , dress & etc , then i believe alot of our sifu here can probably narrow down your search...

Hi all, Thanks for all your reply and suggestion. Aquatimer Chrono is range in between 14k-15k my budget is around 15k max. I'm not too particular on the watch whether ss, leather or even rubber..as long as it looks great on dress and casual wear. Thanks again guys!

That's a good approach.. buy the watch you really like to keep and wear long term, but it's good to get opinions from the sifus here. If you are buying pre-owned, bear in mind that the maintenance and service costs of such branded watches don't come cheap.

I saw one online a few days ago BNIB but seems like it was sold already... really fast... nice watch I must admit... and if you can get it for under RM15k... you should just grab it

as long as you like it and you want it then worth it

however if you are asking opinion, IMHO with 15k budget I will get Omega or Rolex (need to top up a bit)

Whether the watch is "worth it" to you is completely up to you; it's your money!  ;D

I can't really say if it's truly in the same price bracket but you may like to check out the Breitling Chronomat 44. It has a B01 "in-house" manufacture movement. The IWC uses a ETA/Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement that is said to be extensively modified by IWC.

I would go for a Tudor Pelagos or Omega PO if I were you... But I am not.  ;D

That IWC looks pretty sweet to me.  If you are after more options, however, what about a PO chrono?

I think you can't go wrong with the Aquatimer. Some of the option/suggestions by other forum members here are great as well. Again, as long as you feel great wearing it, then it is money well spent.

FYI, if you're not in a hurry to dive into the IWC AT, the next SIHH will review the Year of The Aquatimer for IWC. There may be more choices and variants in this line to choose from in the near future.

Good luck in your choice and let's see some wrist shot once you got it!

last season it was kobold.
