Title: Stowa : Malaysia Limited Edition
Post by: FongV on October 09, 2013, 09:37:28 PM
Here's something interesting for Flieger fans

(http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag139/wc_fong/MWF/Watch_zps5460a96d.jpeg) (http://s1302.photobucket.com/user/wc_fong/media/MWF/Watch_zps5460a96d.jpeg.html)

(http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag139/wc_fong/MWF/CaseBack_zpsd0e7480d.jpeg) (http://s1302.photobucket.com/user/wc_fong/media/MWF/CaseBack_zpsd0e7480d.jpeg.html)

Here's what I was told :-

- 6498 handwind movement (not sure case size)
- brown leather strap in old style
- small seconds hand in gold (pantone code like RAW namecard)
- sapphire caseback
- additional solid caseback with special engraving
- serial # 1-38 ( 4,13,14,24,34 not produced so 33 pieces total )
- special individual name engraving on tang buckle
- estimated price RM5-6k

Regards,
Fong

It's a great idea and Stowa is a fantastic brand to begin with.

The only reservation I have is that I really doubt that they will be able to engrave that design onto the watch back. Too many fine lines it would seem.
 :D  :D  :D

Perhaps a more stylized design would be more practical.

Seriously?!

A normal 6498 non "LE" flieger off their site is only round RM3.2k

Does different colored hands and case back warrant a 2-2.5k price hike?

The AD sure knows how to make a killing.

sounds dodgy.
especially the part about the additional caseback.
its like the AD decided to do their own caseback and package it with a regular off-the-shelf watch.

I kind of like it. Gives the traditional b-uhr design a different feel. And we all know what price the AD lists at and what you actually pay is not the same.

Which begs the question, why would you charge such a heavy markup for such a simple mod to an existing production model while the price is so easily available off the manufacturer's site?

I prefer how Nomos handles their LE offerings. It's always for charity and always 100 euro cheaper  than their normal production pieces and it's only available through Wempe.

The reason is that, all the proceeds goes to charity and the sooner it's off the shelves, the sooner the charities gets their funds.

Whether the motive is noble or for taxation relief, who knows? But back to usual business as soon as possible.

She too hot, boobs too big, batik kebaya is Indonesian, and the mini-skirt definitely JAKIM not approve.

STOWA is one of the few companies that made original pilot watches in the 1940s.
In the mid 90's they were the second company, next to IWC (Schaffhausen). :Dancing_banana:
It's not look like IWC,but it's the look of the original Pilot Watch.

technicv,

How big is this watch?

I believe the case size has not been confirmed. But since they are using the Unitas 6498 the standard Stowa flieger is 41mm. From the impression I got, I am guessing they may make it bigger at 43-45mm.

Fong
