Love the dial and fonts of SBGW047G but it doesn't have the beautiful blued second hand of the SBGR081G
Need a week to ponder and decide which.....
Meanwhile another piece from a Limited Edition 300 series is on the way in....no thanks to Fong

drop by seiko boutique (sg) to compare
081 may looks similar to the high beat, vintage is absolute great looking especially the very classic case design
i'd choose 083 (black with gold second hand) over the two above, otherwise the vintage
blue hand vintage only comes in white gold, too bad
-
081.
Because of the useful date and sweet blue second hand.
-
Hey how much is the SBGW047G ? Is the watch sold in MY?
-
The 081 looks like my SBGH001 Hi-Beat which is also automatic with a sweet blued second hand.
I have the SBGW033 130th Ann which is almost perfect with a blued second hand too.
I didn't like the black dialed 083 in the metal. Didn't even want to take the pic.
If only the SBGW047 came with blued second hand it would be perfect but they need to reserve that blued hand for the WG version which costs similar to a PP almost RM 60K.
BTW the SBGW047 reminded me of the original 44GS during my school days.. deja vu
These 2 watches are not in Malaysia. Was taken overseas but only 1 left so sorry, I cant divulge until I decide on which one I'm getting.
-
Jos, get both if you can as one is a vintage reissue, the other is the modern version with a larger case, if you can get a good price on the SBGR081 (should be much cheaper than SBGH001). I'd seen both SBGR081 and 083 and like them both. Have yet to see the SBGW047 in person, I guess it would be a higher quality case finishing compared with my vintage 61GS.
-
I say go for the vintage reissue.
The SBGR081G looks too similar to your Highbeat.
-
Neither if you already owned a Gs highbeat, just my opinion. tony
-
I too will be looking at the 44GS reissue next week. Methinks I will find it too small for me. I hope not as it looks gorgeous. That gets my vote.
Regards,
Fong

Are there more choices for GF in overseas(Singapore/Bangkok) compare to malaysia?
What about the price, i just wondering are we below/above their retail price(After conversion)

some how i find the price for these 3 new model in Msia cost higher as per compare to some model with similar yen price, maybe yen is getting weak or ... :-\
-
SBGW047G .... without a doubt....
clean dial without date.....
-
Don't know much about GS to begin with.
But based on looks, the reissue looks more unique.
-
Reissue a lot of emphasis was given into the construction of the case.
-
The price of sbgr081/083 differs considerably from sbgw047 here in msia, whilst all three are the same price in japan. i am quite perplexed.

i'll pick the one with the date
mind sharing how much is it by the way?
-
I say go for the vintage reissue.

Yep.
-
Jos, at first glance, the SBGR081 looks similar to the SBGH001. But there are difference that set both watches apart. Hour markers are thicker, hour/minute hands are slimmer but have polished/brushed finish, and there is chapter ring on the 081. Obviously, besides movement difference, the case in 081 has the angular design of the 44GS. If I were to choose only one, it would be a no brainer - the 44GS vintage reissue, I think that will be better value.

Thank you all for your kind input and my apologies as I've been very busy the last 2 weeks and hardly logged in to MWF.
Anyway the final outcome was this which arrived late this afternoon...
SBGW047G (number 5xx out of Limited Edition of 700 worldwide)
(http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m235/JoeyJLC/null_zps0a42eda4.jpg) (http://s105.photobucket.com/user/JoeyJLC/media/null_zps0a42eda4.jpg.html)
its really deja vu for me as my brother had the original 44GS... which he treasured and wouldn't let me wear when I was young..

Thanks, Ivan. I'm sure Taiwan's choice of GS is the best outside Japan..
Wonder how much this costs there.
Congrats. Wear it with good health.

I also received this Seiko Prospex Spring Drive Tuna SBDB008 (Limited Edition 300 pieces worldwide) late today.
The first ever Marinemaster Tuna with Spring Drive. Most probably this will be my first and last Tuna, unless Seiko comes up with a Golgo 16 Tuna with an 8L calibre.
All this while I loved the Golgo 16 design tuna but it was a quartz and without any AR there was quite a bit of reflection.
The 8L Emperor Tuna with an excellent mechanical automatic calibre was however all black and whilst some like the Darth Vader look, it was too bland for me.
This OTOH is perfect in my eyes.. the only thing that it could have been improved was its ceramic bezel to be also luminous like my Pelagos, which I also adore..
Of coz taste is always very personal..
Although I have been scuba diving for >20 yrs, I wouldn't take this beauty diving. I'd use a dive computer, actually 2.... whilst this is for pure enjoyment of its fantastic detailing and finishing.
Since I saw it on the wrist of one of our MWF members at the B&R Pavilion launch weeks back, I just couldn't get it out of my head.... like an infatuation, a puppy love when young...
I had been hunting for it since, day in and day out but by then it was sold out in Japan.
Was lucky to locate it in another country which had ordered 4 pieces, of which 2 were already booked.
Had to end up paying a much higher price than 2 of our MWF members who got it from Japan but I simply had to have it.
As I couldn't wear it at work today as its too thick to go under my office shirt cuff, I didn't post it up under 'What's on your wrist today'
Absolutely gorgeous finishing and the dial details has to be seen to be believed.. Its concave...
Under a loupe, totally perfect finishing with zero defects..even the lume application
Of coz the Spring Drive is already known for its unbelievable accuracy....my experience with my current 2 SDs have given me that confidence.
This will take over as one of my top fav weekend watch with casual wear..
I wonder apart from the 2 MWF members who already own it, how many others have had the luck to get hold of a piece...

Jos, congrats on finally able to acquire the SBDB008. It is indeed a beautiful piece befitting Seiko's offering as part of the 100th anniversary watch making. Given we have similar taste in watches, I believe you will continue to be seduced and infatuated for quite a long time.
-
Wow, two new watches in a row. :o
Big big congrats!!
Wear in good health.
