Just want to share my newly collected Seikomatic vintage guess around 60's. 14K gold fill looks good. Just that the screw is too small hard to adjust the time. Would like to hear more Seiko vintage story here. Happy New Year!!

Such a beauty...
Can share some history bout this watch?
-
i dont know any history of this watch. Bought from japan through a vintage watch agent.
Just like the clean and simple look, and the dial case is consider big case at that time.
Seiko made a lot of watch focus on salary man market. Some of the model like Business-A, Seiko Crown, King Seiko, Lordmatic, are some very age model and is in my collect list.

Hi Chris, you are right. But according to some watch sifu, japan parts is still easy to get while swiss parts is very difficult. Like Rolex Omega, manufacturer stop providing parts to individual watch shop. All have to send back to maker to repair. Thats why keeping japan vintage has less worry on maintenance and repair. How do you think?

From my experience the difficulty to service vintage japan watch anf vintage swiss watches are about the same.
Many seikos parts are inter changeable among different models but many parts are not. Seiko bellmatic parts are especially tough to come by....

catch from the internet info...
// Lord Matic was a mid range Seiko that boasted the fact that the watch was an automatic that was thinner than all other auto’s of the time. In the beginning the watches were one piece design that you could only remove the movement from the front. Had the 5606 movement that was the base for the King Seiko’s of the time. And KS was a high grade watch that was second to the Grand Seiko as the most top of the line Seiko during the 1960’s and 70’s. //
-
Mine certainly is not the first then and the condition is not really perfect, there are tiny scratches on the case and a small tiny chip on the glass. Nothin major tho, case is unpolished and the gold emblem is in good condition. The watch runs very accurate to 1 second more a day or 2, i didnt really measure and the PR is about 38 to 42 hours on fullwind.
I have had this watch for many years, i think more than 10 hmmm i dont even remember where i got it. A gift from my late grandfather? He gave me a few watches i dont remember which is which anymore.

Recently got a vintage 1970's King Seiko Chronometer hi-beat from the MWF shop.
It had quite a bit of dust and marks on the dial as well as on top and under the acrylic crystal, the crown tube had lots of gunk inside, the case back was poorly screwed on and it was running slow….
So I opened it up and cleaned up the acrylic crystal both under and on top, cleared out the accumulated gunk in the tube stem, cleaned up the gaskets on the crown and case back gently, spent an hour slowly cleaning up the dial and markers..
Unfortunately I have no skills to take the movement apart….which fortunately was running well apart from losing time….
and here it is before being put back together and regulated….

That's really awsome! My eyes is BIG  How you learn it? From Sifu??
-
I would only risk this on my own watches which are not high value pieces as I'm no certified technician, only a DIY guy from trial and error.
Maybe you can send to JOS2012 to do some clean up as well ...LOL :Laughing_on_floor:
Anyway, in-perfect made perfect to the vintage. Those scars, corrossion marks etc sometimes add a lot of vintage aroma and these are the marks of nature. No one can create. And this is something you cannot get in new watch. Lets wear in proud and good health!

Got it from _bay from this so claimed master Loyswatch he is one of those better craftsman
If you have the patience try get those junk type from _ahoo Japan, then refurbish it in Malaysia (You must engage a good sifu though)
That's a very interesting hobby (different area of WIS , salvaging junk and turn it into a beauty)

Bought this NOS from a watch dealer in Komtar (out of biz now). Incredibly it keeps perfect time. Only the chrono buttons are a little sticky.

Here are some more shots. A little about the movement. It has day date and chrono FYLBACK function. Seiko should have made these in bigger cases!

i hv seen the dark blue/green and a blue yellow dial version....
also the orange chrono counter hand at six look striking !!!
this is 70s watch, to hv an auto chrono at this size (small) with both chrono counter at 6
its an big engineering break through !

A little story about Loyswatch:
He is based in Manila specializing in Seiko Divers.
Does a lot of mods even designs his own dials and sells them over the bay.
He has very good reputation among the Philippines Watch Club members (of which I'm a member too)
I've not met him personally yet but one of these days i might need to contact him when i need to service my Seiko Diver.
Loy Albelda aka Mang Loy
2nd floor, Guadalupe Commercial Center along EDSA, right beside the department store
Email: [email protected]
Servicing and repairing of watches. Can be commissioned to build/assemble watches. Adjusting of movements. Has worked on mods.
Hope this sheds some light to this watch repair sifu.

Nice KS! Didn't know KS has a square case?! :P mind share how you get it?

Ken, if I'm not mistaken it's a 1973 model based on the serial number at the caseback.
Purchased it via bidding in EBay.

Yes, it did come with the original metal bracelet. Unfortunately, the bracelet has started to rust so I switched it out to leather. Problem is now I can't seem to find a strap/bracelet that completes the vintage look for this watch as well as the original bracelet. So the Seiko is seeing less and less wrist time now!....

Apologize if this is out of topic. I have a vintage 7016-5000 Seiko Monaco that needs servicing. Can anyone rec in penang ? The watch repairers I have been to don't want to take it on. Thanks.
Are there really no good watch repairers in Penang?
-
^
I've not come across any good watch repairer while i was in Penang many years ago.
There was one at the junction of Penang Road / Chulia Street and he butchered my case back when he tried to open the watch and I never went back to him again.
Probably some kind souls in this forum can share info for the benefit of fellow watch enthusiast?

Seiko Skyliner, love the second hand which is curve at the edge point.
Some GS maintain that characteristic of second hand.
Guess is around 60s or 70s. Skyliner is one class lower than Liner.
Big face slim and sharp hands with SGP isn't it a perfect dress watch? ;D

Hi Everyone,
I have 2 Seikos from the late 80s to early 90s (not exactly vintage) which is in need of repair. Thong Sia has claim that they don't have the parts so I was wondering if anyone can provide good recommendation to repair these watches. They are quartz. They belong to my folks who prefers quartz (easy maintainence!)
Just sharing further details below
Men's watch
Seiko SQ 5Y23-6120.
From the serial number, I would put this as from 1990-1992
The watch is not working at all.

Ladies watch
I need to relook at the model number. Misplaced the note I wrote it on. Will update once I have it.
The watch is working but the crown has come loose and can't seem to be able to put it back in place. Changing the time is now a very careful task!

Appreciate the help and I appreciate any inputs from Seiko WIS here. THanks

Greetings everyone!
I've just got a vintage Seiko Sportsmatic and would like to refurbish it. As you can see from the photo, the condition is really bad:

Can someone recommend me a good watch sifu that can help me to refurbish the lovely watch?
Thanks :)

I love GS vintage, but I have difficulty in sourcing the right guy to sell me vintage GS. Now I only a few in IG from Singapore like Paleh, etc.
