I haven't seen the SRP043 in person but I'm now wearing a SKX007J Japan version with NATO strap on it.

These are my point of views to this SKX007J:

Pros:
1. Robust built.
2. Distinctive bezel clicks.
3. Long second needle with its short end lumed (personal preference).
4. Proven long lasting movement.
5. Value for money.

Cons:
1. Pointy crown guards (at the bottom).
2. Ugly rubber strap, very hard and doesn't go well with the watch (personal preference).
3. Moderate lume brightness, could be brighter.

Sorry Alcip but came to this topic late. I have both the SKX007 and the SRP043. Just my personal impression.
SKX007 is the classic Seiko diver, reliable with both day and date function if that is important to you. Very comfortable on the wrist especially with the classic Seiko crown position at 4o'clock. Downside is the crap Jubilee bracelet but as you are thinking of the rubber strap, perhaps not an issue and you can always change the strap (changed mine to leather).
SRP043 is better built especially when you look at the hands with better lume. Comes only with date function but just as comfortable although much more robust feeling and heavier. The metal bracelet is much better than the SKX's Jubilee. Accuracy-wise, did not find much different when comparing the SKX 7S26 movement and the SRP 4R15, both are non-winding and non-hacking.
Go with your heart, try both on and the one you can't take off your wrist if the one for you.

Sorry for the typo error in the last sentence, should read "the one you can't take off your wrist is the one for you".

Some poison. Not the 007 but the 009.

Mind telling me where you got the strap on the 009? Been looking for one just like that to go with my own 007.
