Hi guys!
Yesterday I was spending my time in Facebook groups and I was particularly impressed by a photo in the stream that caught my attention. What I'm talking about is Nereide GMT, a diver watch by Meccaniche Veneziane with ETA 2893-2. I already own a lot of diver watches but I'm impressed by the colors and the good quality for the money (ETA GMT and sapphire glass).
I was almost going to pull the trigger on my third Steiny (exactly, I already have two lol) but now I'm seriously considering to buy it when it will be available on Kickstarter.
Here there are some shots I've taken from Meccaniche Veneziane website.
What do you think of this timepiece?

great piece, but in my opinion.
they should go 38-40mm instead.
idk, unnecessary 42mm like tudors.
hey man. its just my preferences
give us updates in the review thread if you able to get one

Yeah, I've never had a 42 mm, but I think it will fit well on my wrist ;)
I'll wait September 1st!!!

Looked thru their website. The Basalto series look really nice... feeling the itch now

Looks really nice from the pics. And so many color options to choose from. Buyers will be spoiled for choice. However the 42mm puts me off this project.

Looks like they're confused somewhat .... Vacheron logo, Rolex faded pepsi bezel and Role Sub pearl ... just my opinion.
But if cheap enough to thrash around, why not ? ;D

kinda looks like the rolex and the planet ocean had a baby :)

they should do 40mm. That the perfect size imo.

picture always looks good, but it might disappoint u once u receive it. bought a few on kickstarter, some are near to the picture shown, some are quite disappointing tbh.. jus pure luck

How much is the retail of one of these? Looks nice but really, perhaps lacking of heritage and horology which people like me will have a second thought on purchasing it, especially its from a start up hmm

Buyers beware!

I think if on a specifications sheet basis, it ticks the right boxes.
You get a resilient Sapphire sandwich and ETA serviceability. It takes design cues from iconic watches.
Microbrands in general tend to target watch enthusiasts whom want something 'affordable' but are turned off by fashion brands.
Most important is you as a buyer / backer have got to like it and not seek to get anyone else's approval. It's for your own enjoyment, so resale value shouldnt even factor in your mind. But yes, there's definitely a risk involved (as with all Kickstarters)
