Actually for the locals, they don't go to any of the shops... well some will still go to the one near hard rock. Most, go and eat at the one further down jonker street (towards tengkera) opposite a chinese school (towards pokok ketapang). The orchien (at night) is also great.

I had a short trip there in March... Would strongly recommend Aunty Lee's Peranakan cuisine. It's all about freshness in her recipe and dishes... Jalan Ujong Pasir, Taman Sinn 75050... I requested for a plate of belachan, and it took her kitchen abt. 15mins to serve us. But its worth the wait coz only freshly made upon request...

Don't know much about other food but the chicken rice in any stall in Malacca beats anyone here in PJ !
-
Love the chicken rice ball and cendol around jonker street. Yet to try out some local nyonya food as well.
-
the durian cendol along jonker street is actually quite nice - can't remember the name but it's not actually a cendol shop.
they sell chinese herbs and such but serve cendol in-shop as well
