Hi members,
Will you wash or rinse your watch every time after wearing?
How often do you give your watch completed cleaning?
-
Definitely not after every time I wear. I would clean a watch once every....2 years? 3? Maybe? ;D
-
Well..... I have yet to deep-clean any of my watches so far since I bought them. Just wiped them once in a while. :Laughing_on_floor:

For me when my watch feel oily/dirty if the watches are water resistant/waterproof I wash with dishwasher liquid use toothbrush others no water resistant just wiped with a damp cloth that what I do.
I never service my watches until it not working.
Now there are six watched need repair most are vintage, it would be expensive, most of this watches cost 50 to 250 ringgit, if repair it would cost more than the price aI paid for and also good watch technician not easy to find.

I tend to clean them monthly? But I ensure that
1. All the crowns are screwed in
2. No high pressurized water (just normal running tap water is fine)
3. Baby shampoo / soap
4. Dry with a microfiber after a wash
As for the bracelet, I used an ultrasonic machine. But generally I used nato strap, so I generally wash them with the baby shampoo and quickly towel dry them.

I will use soft toothbrush to clean it . But make sure the water to go in to the winder side

When it feels oily or after a particularly sweaty day.
Wash with dish wash liquid because hand soap usually has some oils for moisturising, use toothbrush for nooks and rinse under running tap water. Leave on cloth to dry up

I realised, I only do thorough cleaning during lockdown..hahaha..too much time spent indoors

Because if I dint rinse my watches after wearing, I need to replace watch box cushion every 4-6 months..
-
Normally after daily wear before put back to watch winder will clean
-
after wear will clean it with fine cloth

Every Sunday, it has become a sort of ritual for me. I just take a toothbrush (preferable your wife's toothbrush, not your own) and some half warm water and a little bit of soap. Make sure the crown is closed properly and do not hold the watch directly under running water if it is not a dive watch.
Brush it a bit and let it dry up on a towel. I've gotten compliments about how nice my watch looks compared to how long I have it, I think it is because of careful ownership and cleaning in a gentle way.

for models with gold, I try to clean with soap and water before storing because I find the gold tarnishes if the sweat is not washed off..
-
i wash my watches every weekend with dishwashing liquid and warm water

I clean my watch every time I leave my home with the watch. It's like a habit to me. Hence, all my watches are equipped with rubber strap. I get the peace of mind when I rinse them off with mild soap and gently dry it with a soft towel after.
On a side note, I do think this is the way to go unless you have a leather strap on (or poor WR watches) in this pandemic period.
Take care and stay safe.

I do light dusting almost once/twice per week on my daily watch! But anyway since i wear a nato daily, the strap is cleaned on a weekly/bi-weekly basis!
-
For me once a month, to clean those stain from my sweat .
-
For me it depends, if its an everyday watch, I clean it whenever I see stains and sweat stains. If its special occasion watch, I clean it right after I wear if regardless.

I’ve always wondered why do some folks buy watches to just store it or keep it in safe. I’m so baffled by this especially when they proudly mentioned this. A watch is a watch, use it as it should and give respect to it. But yeah , we should clean it occasionally whilst maintaining its servicing on time :)

Odd statement coming from someone with a watch bought in Feb 2020 and worn less than 3 times..

Sadly it’s covid. So not much avenue to wear watches. And I’m sure everyone has their go to watches and I do too. The thing is we shouldn’t baby them. I keep all watches but I don’t buy it to keep them in a safe or to be untouched :)
If you get what I mean

If you’re not a one watch guy , I believe you do understand what I’m saying. We do always resonate with some watches compared to the other we might have owned. I’m speaking from a perspective of how do you view a watch. A watch is a tool nonetheless. Use it as it should. But if you don’t connect then why force it, thus why I’m selling it. You’ve got an issue with it ? We can discuss :)
Feel hurt cause you do that ? I apologise :)
