Lovely tuna design euclid,
Was hoping they put in the 8L movt from d Marinemaster into this then I'd get it...

Looking forward to the long weekend with this.

Joseph,

Seiko does have a modern automatic tuna. It's fitted with the Cal. 8L35 found in the sbdx001 Marinemaster. Just google Emperor Tuna.  ;D

hi Loo,
Yup, know abt that Emperor Tuna but the all black design is very bland.
What I meant was the same model in design/colors as this Golgo but with the 8L35 instead of quartz

For now, only SBDX011 comes with the automatic calibre but in black only. Understand that this calibre is essentially a GS automatic (not sure which one) just not as well finished. The Emperor Tuna is nearly 3x the price of the Golgo but has a Ti case and ceramic shroud, and sapphire glass.

Jos, the 7c46 quartz is quite a hardy movement.

hi euclidorus,
I have no doubt Seiko quartz are excellent perfomers but I'm very old skool where quartz watches are concerned.
The only quartz I kept last time was a Breitling which was used only as a reference time and never worn. It was sold as I also had a Suunto for those active outdoor which is also a very accurate timekeeper. Not all quartz are equal but the Suunto seems to be doing well altho I doubt its thermo compensated.
Will bide my time for the Golgo to come with the 8L35 or even 6R movt.
AFAIK you're right, the 8L35 is a GS movement but not as finely finished and also not adjusted to GS timekeeping stds

One of these days do bring your Golgo for me to try.Who knows I may like it so much I'll overlook the quartz inside..

 an earlier Spring Drive from Seiko before the Grand Seiko Spring Drive models were launched.
Would have been nice if you had joined us at the Seiko gathering a few weeks back for us to see this watch...

The 3D moonphase model is fantastic..too bad its no longer available.

I'm new here, it'd have been a bit awkward at the gathering! I got this only a few weeks back anyway - it was a bit of an impulse purchase since it was at a really good price, but I'm very happy with it.

I agree - I really like the moonphase model, but it's pretty pricey and is quite rare now. I think this is probably the only SD model that I can wear without it looking too gaudy; as the rest are a touch bigger.
