Hi Guys,

Can I play? Relaxing at McD.

cd, this is a gorgeous watch! Is this the slow beat or the transitional model?

It's the early 5002, slow 2.5 hertz, 18000vph.

Hello ckng.

Very nice 5004. Very hard to take off once on. Great choice.

It was difficult to decide back in 2006 to wait for the 5004 or just take the 5002.

It must be running well within COSC specs with the high-beat movement?

Hi Takashi,

It's true. That was the first thing that caught my attention when I picked it up, especially with the long slender seconds hand.

Wish it was mine, sadly the owner, a good friend did not want to sell it. Seiko Black Monster with Cerakote Ceramic Costing.

Hobbit,

This Seiko is extraordinary. The Cerakote makes it look indestructible.
I googled Cerakote and NIC Industries came up but they did not specify hardness of coating. Any idea?

Where was this Seiko coated? I am interested.

An unexpected buy. At the price (the current BC3 would cost more, even after discount), complete with box and paper, what choice do I have....

The before picture.

After a little TLC at my watch guy...

I would hesitate to say that it is better quality. It is a well made watch but I would not say that it is better than a Panerai. The quality of the watch is about USD 1,000 worth. That was the price when it first came out. Sadly it is now about half the price, which makes it great value.

All I can say is... two
The slow beat is definitely a keeper. Do you still have the original fish crown?  Hopefully IWC did not it replace it with the Probus Scafusia crown when you sent it in for servicing.
