These I did. My first Panerai, PAM00003, bought it in 1999. Used it daily while working on F50s, B737s, B727s and B777s. Been through all types of chemicals like aviation fuel (big name for kerosene), hydraulic fluids, soap, water and even coke (we use it to clean aircraft windows). Been on test flights, engine runs, vibration checks, rain and hot sun. Have gone through a number of original (back than no independent straps) and independent straps.
However in 2005, the watch was replaced and on rotation with the PAM00111. It also went through the same thing until I retired a couple of years ago.
Nowadays I sit at home and blog. The only 'abuse' the watches I have get is the daily gym workout, occasional swim and enjoying the 4 seasons.
