jacky8888,

The SAR is no longer available new. You can get them pre-loved and they do pop up in sales forum, particularly in military watch forums. I got mine preloved from a military collector in Singapore. Anyway the current model is the GSAR. The main difference is the use of the gas tubes, date at 4:30 o'clock position, Arabic hour markers and no cyclops. I could be wrong but some of the authorised distributor do ship international. I know one AD will only ship the SAR family of watches international. If you want to know more, just PM me and I can give you the details.

The Marathon SAR specifications:

Movement: ETA 2824-A2 Signed Marathon
Dial: measures 27.7 mm and utilizes Maraglo (Luminova)
Crystal: sapphire - 2.8 mm thick x 30.5 mm diameter
Case: is cut from 316L stainless steel
Case diameter is approximately 46 mm
Bezel diameter is 41.1 mm, milled engraved and filled
Case Height is 13.85 mm
20 mm lugs with drilled holes
Crown: 6.5 mm dia x 5.5 mm long, deep knurled
Weight of head 93.1 grams

All the best with your hunt.

The watch tells time by degrees. The inner radial is divided to 360° chapter. As such the hands rotate once ever 24 hours. The outer circle is divided into 60° chapter. The hands rotate once every 4 hours. In a real hour angle watch, there would be two more hands (some like the one by VC has 3), centrally mounted that rotates every 4 minutes, showing the angular minutes.

In the example above (OT the watch is valued at USD 1.7 million if I am not mistaken), the time shown in the image below reads 332° 8.5?, translating into 22 hours, 8 minutes and 33 seconds, the normal 'smile' face of watches being photographed.

Basically, the formula for conversion is 332 + (8.5 x 1/60). We are making it easy by taking it as 8.5' and not get it more complex to 8' 30". So that works out to 332.141666666666666666666...... Now to convert this to time as we know it. 332.14166666... x 4 (1 degree is 4 minutes) and we get 1,328.56666666... divide that by 60 (60 minutes in an hour) and you get 22.14277777777.... hours. So we know it is 22 hours. Convert the remaining 0.14277777777... to minutes, times 60. We get 8.566666666666.... so 8 minutes. To get the seconds, again times the 0.5666666... with 60 and you have 33 seconds. Must an easier way to tell time.....  Basically to figure out the 'hour' hands, is made easier as the 60 would be 4, 120 is 8, 180 is 12, 240 is 16 and 300 is 20 and 360 would be midnight. So if the hour hand falls in-between these number, use the best guesstimation or agak-agakration.

More macro photography, this time the model is the MKII Stingray 50 MOD 2C.

The crown.

The case back. Wish the engraving/ etching was a tad deeper.

The hands. I love that it is white and not polished.

The 12 o'clock marker. As this is one of the Swiss made ones (not personalised by Bill), I could not opt of the lumed bezel insert.

The 50 bezel. There are the 60 and 70 bezel, corresponding with the bezel on the original Fifty Fathoms according to the decade it was issued. The 50 is from the 50s and so on.

The discrete date display, I like.

Nothing actually, both share the same module. Well the display is different. The Ocean Grey has a 'mirror' LCD display and the Rising White has the reverse LCD display.

Back to my collection. One of my favourite watch, the Montblanc Timewalker Big Date Automatic reference 36939. I just love the brown dial. Difficult to capture the dial colour (means my photography skill is bad).

Bulova reference 96A102. This is Bulova 'homage' to the US Military 'ORD Dept' Ordnance watch series from WWII by Bulova itself. Too bad it is quartz powered unlike the original.

I am sure you guys must be bored by now. No worries, the entire collection should be up and posted by tomorrow. Once that is done, that is my entire collection and you can understand why I am no longer collecting.

More Casio G-Shock. One more batch to go, I promise.

G-101L-2AV. The original leather strap is long gone. Now fitted with a 22 mm blue 'Bond' NATO strap.

G-101-1AVMDS. I actually got this on-line from a shop in Malaysia.

G-100DM-8AJF. I guess Panerai was not the first to come out with a watch for the 'Chinese' market.

G-5700L-1JF. The watch comes with the beautiful leather strap you see. I changed it with the rubber strap. Hard to photograph as the LCD display has a mirror finish, which makes telling the time just as difficult.

DW-6100. Vintage G-Shock.

As promised the last batch of Casio G-Shocks.

The 'Play-Set' pair. These comes with the G-Shock man.

DW-6900SW-6DR and BG-5601SW-7DR.

Another 25th Anniversary watch, the DW-5725B-7DR.

And finally my prized piece in the entire Casio G-Shock collection. The 25th Anniversary Project Team 'Tough' watch. This is the same as the ones you worn by the team that created the first Casio G-Shock the DW-5000.

Note the 'microwave' like LCD display and the Project Team 'Tough' on the dial. This is a limited edition of 2008 pieces.

The Seamaster boys.

Seamaster 300M Diver reference 2254.

Seamaster 300M Chrono Diver reference 2599. My first proper watch.

My homage to the Seamaster 300M. All original Omega parts.

My sole Speedmaster, the X-33 reference 3290.
