New 3861 movement, new bracelet other than that still very much a moonwatch (from what I read online). After 50 years I guess it is expected that Omega going to update the movement on their most popular model.
I guess for 1st time buyer of moonwatch it's make sense to get the new movement (it's supposed to be better right? )
But for me I'm happy with my 1861 cal Speedy.

I suppose it is a good thing that they update the watch to keep up with the rest of what they have to offer. Besides, they could always use this update as an excuse to go back to a previous version 10 years from now and say they are releasing a historic LE that stays true to the original build or something kan? Gimmick kuat

Time consuming and need a lot of patience, normally they will just swap refurbished module instead of service.

The RRP has jumped almost RM10k and I would have expected a Glidelock like clasp and 70 hours power reserve.

Smart move to make the 2020 Snoopy look like an acceptable price at close to RM40k.

Glad I bought the previous model while they were "relatively cheap" and I can see their value slowly creep up when supplies run out.

They're trying to capture the RM30k RRP market that ROLEX has left vacant.

Man, thats quite a significant jump. I'm not sure how to take this - on one hand, it's supposed to be a significant piece of timekeeping history that has a place in just about any collection. But on the other hand, from a practical standpoint (or at least my practical standpoint at least), its only a manual wound chronograph with 50m WR that has now become rather pricey. Even a cheaper reduced has more useful specs (to me la at least). I did earmark it as a possible future acquisition but now, at this price point, I'm loosing interest di. I wonder how many ppl would end up feeling the same? This isn't a rolex/AP/PP. Curious to see how the market responds to this.

Omega's moving up market, all according to plan haha

 I think part of the charm of the speedy was that it hit the right balance of affordability and historical significance, it's the number 1 recommended watch for people that wants to get into watch collecting or first serious luxury watch. When it's priced out of reach of most average folks then it would be a sad day

To me, the steel Speedy is a recommended buy at below RM20k with a hand wound movement that bears close resemblance to the original moonwatch.   These recent "improvements" to the movement and price markup makes it no longer attractive.

The should have kept the exorbitant prices to the limited edition models instead.

Just visited OMEGA Boutique yesterday, and no sign of the black dial speedmaster.
By the way i went for having a wrist on the Speedmaster 300M, like it.
The only thing left is work hard

Wow. These Omegas now are really pricey. Personally for me, I think I would go with the previous iterations. Although the current model may have better specifications, I cannot see myself paying above RM20,000 for one.
