Gallet Multichron 12 black dial
« on: March 23, 2020, 01:20:58 PM »
Here we have my 1st vintage chronograph.  A Gallet Multichron 12. Bought this almost 7 years back from Ebay. This model comes with both white dial and black. Personally black dial looks better because the print is silver and it just pops.

Beating inside this Gallet is an Excelsior Park 40. Gallet offered the Multichron 12 in 2 brands of movement, EP40 and Valjoux 72.
Only Multichron 12 fitted with EP40 will have a 'H' stamped on upper left lug. Some collectors guess is that H stands for Hour.

Excelsior park is the movement maker and they supplied to Gallet, GP, Sinn and other small brands. Operation is smooth especially the reset, it's very light.

Case is full stainless steel at 37.7mm. It's a gorgeous watch on wrist. It's waterproof to 30m with screw back caseback.

This is so far the only vintage watch I have come across with a tapered cut at the case between the lugs. Maybe it's to cater for thick strap. I am not sure.
