Do not know much about this watch earlier, but when found this mint condition vintage omega is available…. I told myself chances to own such a good condition vintage OMEGA at mint condition very little. So i paid for it before I study on it…. Which is something I don’t do that often.

Anyway, I’m a happy and proud owner now. Follow is my limited knowledge where I just learned from Omega Official Vintage Page and other website.

Omega Seamaster – Memomatic

Omega memomatic was produce around 1969-1974.  It was retail at CHF 590 at 1972. It is seamaster line watches, but the case is pilot shape ( omega speedmaster mark series and flightmaster) 40 x 50mm stainless steel with brush…. Very rough finishing. It is a big watch at 70s.
It has a 20mm lug size, as u all can see so I cant wait to change that with my first nato…. Never like nato… but this one just too match….i should say perfectly match!

This link image from late Mr Maddox site show clearly what memomatic is all about, how to read and all the features. The 2 disc for showing alarm pointer is cool.

And this image show how to set the time, date and alarm.

Not much of Omega memomatics was produced, non official figure was 35,000 pieces were produced over four models
Besides the above model I owned…. I also found the other 3.. not sure it is the correct one.

My experience bout the alarm is…. Not really loud, not even close to those cricket with solid back, quite close to Seiko bellmatic. Little vibrate. Lets look at the heart of the watch

Cal 980
- Self-winding (one single barrel for both time and alarm)
- 21600 A/h
- anti-shock device
- quick set date with a discrete correction pusher at 3 o'clock
- alarm
- 19 jewels
- size 30,8 x 7,8 mm

The side view show clearly of the quickset date at 3 as mention above. It is not as thick as I thought.

I always worry bought servicing and long term maintenance of a vintage watch. We lucky in this century, the internet link us to the whole world and some1 like the respected late Chuck Maddox still left us the service manual on this watch
