What I got for Christmas....
« on: December 25, 2010, 09:14:10 PM »
Recently, I was in market for an elegant dress watch.

And my other half suggested a Mido, which she wanted to get me as a present.

Also thanks to Scott who called the other day on a reasonable price JLC reverso, but way out of my budget at the moment. Anyway the hunt is on......

Dropped by at the Summit last Saturday and this one caught my eyes......
A Zenith Elite automatic stainless steel...

Copy from the website;
Movement:  Automatic
Case:  Stainless Steel
Case Size:  37mm
Dial:  Silver Guilloche Dial
Bracelet:  Black Leather (The strap is after market)
Description:
Zenith "Class Elite" Automatic Man's Wristwatch.

This timeless and standard design watch Zenith "Class Elite" Ref No:
01/02.1125.680 features a Automatic Movement. Stainless Steel Case.Sapphire Crystal.Sapphire Crystal Caseback.Silver Guilloché Dial.Arabic Numerals, Index Markers.Date Display.Seconds Subdial at 9 O'Clock.Black Crocodile Strap.Stainless Steel Folding Clasp.Water Resistant to 30M.

Quality, design, trend-setting power and exclusivity are the four criteria inherent to the Zenith brand and perfectly borne out by the unique "Class Elite" collection.

Zenith is a true manufacturer that conceives, manufactures and assembles its movements in its own workshops in LeLocle Switzerland. Known for their most famous movement the El Primero and for producing elite complicated pieces in small limited numbers.

According to shop dealer, this watch had been sent back AD centre - serviced and overhauled with some parts changed. But when I asked for the paper and proof, he said none but assured me all are in order. Knowing him, I shall give him the benefit of doubts.
After 24 hours lapsed, only +4 seconds, this is within cosc spec. (checked against my Astro decorder)
The damage?...A little less than RM4k..if you minus the aftermarket strap.
Here are the pictures;

Peter

The Zenith came with the original butterfly clasp.

But I opt for an aftermarket strap and normal buckle.
Very comfortable wear.

Thanks.

Thanks to all on the congratulations message.

I was at the Pavilion (Sunday) and dropped by at the Cortinx...

Wanting to enquire on the proper strap for my Zenith and was taken back by its astronomical nett price.

I am now better off having an aftermarket strap.

I think close to 1K or maybe more if it's croco strap... Maybe 1200 for zenith ;)

Scott - spot on, and thats for strap only. No buckle. The crazy price for a original butterfly clasp is over rm1k.

The entry price for a basel 2010 collections (steel / no date / 40mm). the list is +RM14k.

The Zenith watches are never a mid-range level at this price bracket.

Nato on any sport rolex would be always nice.

But to put a nato on an elegent dress watch - never tried before...maybe who knows, try it on and see the combination.....must be very comfortable x 2 to wear......

Ok will try it one of these day, shoot a picture and see some comments...

Thanks ailun86

The zenith movement itself is a marvel - just discover that I can adjust the date backwards (reverse between 2400hr). And I thought only the Rolex GMT 2 / Explorer 2 have this function......or maybe I am too naive..
