Buying Watches Online
« on: July 29, 2010, 08:22:45 AM »
Hello Sifus,

Here is another topic to help us new in watch collecting.  Up till now, I have always purchased my watches directly from ADs either in Malaysia or Singapore.  However, I noted from this forum that members are buying from Online Websites regularly.

Can you advise what are the benefits of buying from such online websites?  It is safe?  Are you guaranteed that the watch is authentic?

Can you advised some 'safe' online websites?

Thanks in advance.
Jon

All brand owned Online shop website are save
like stowa, steinhart, debaufre....

But most conventional brand hv no online sales website!

Buy from forum sales section!
Most sponsored sellers are safe

but most wellknown watch seller price is higher!

So rule is simple
the cheaper the watch posted the higher the risk of ppl will scam u!

Golden rules is buy the seller pay with paypal n insure for shipping!
So when u do all this most of the time the cost is not cheaper...
So buy it locally! Malaysia is tax free still for watches!

I hv experience buying online thru ebay and generally I am quite satisfied. But I hv never transacted more than 1k...I hv bought watches that are not sold locally, internet brands and vintages. Still prefer to handle it myself at local ADs if price difference not so great...

I have bought and sold tons but usually transact with fellow watchaholics mainly from the US,never from dealers.
The whole idea is "buy the seller" and check references.USPS is quite reliable but only request this method is the watch is not that pricey.

fuss free...sent them an email, confirm stock...filled up their form for the deduction of the $ thru my CC....2 days later....watch received in full package. warranty card stamped with AD's stamp.
