I have few questions need your help !
Is this is the good watch to keep for the future ?
Is this watch is the good investment ?
Can this watch pass it to my child for the future ?

I would never consider any watch an investment as they don't make you money. While it is true that s Rolex retains value better than most other brands, it is far away from being an investment. Buy what you like, like what you buy. And when the day comes along where you feel like flipping it, a Rolex will surely hold its own when getting a good resale price.

Reckon it would be too late for u to seek for advice. My take is, never take watch as an investment tool, buy what you can afford n ur heart desires. You always pass anything to ur children, the next question u may wanna ask whether he wants ur "old" watch by then. Most youngsters don't appreciate vintage stuffs as much as we do. Having said, rolex highly sort after sports models tend to hold its value really well provided u keep all, papers & boxes in great condition

yes..agreed that we should not treat watches as investment tools... just buy whatever you like and will
use ! having say that submariner is one of the most iconic watches..with timeless design... and highly
sought after... (easy to flip if you are bored of the look )

Nice piece buddy! Fully support what others have said.

Yea watch is not an investment, share market etc is.
I think most children will appreciate what is given by their old folks, regardless it's apek look or what not. I don't appreciate vintage previously but i feel as we get older we will tend to appreciate vintage stuffs more.
-
It makes sense if what u call is, rolex sub has the most value rentention among most, if not all the watches in the world. Call it an investment if u like.
Can share how much it cost u? Hehe

Mayb when we get older, we r becoming vintage as well. What's not to like about ourselves, right? Lol

My POV, investment in watch is counted like the earlier you buy, the cheaper price you pay , where latter have to pay higher price, the differentiatial price is considered your "Profit" as concept of One Rinngit Saved is One Ringgit earned

With date or no date?

With date or no date?
Alex had the picture of his 14060M a couple of posts upwards, and it was definitely without the date. If there was a date complication, then the Sub of the same period would have referred to the 16610. Having said that, at RM14k, it was a steal of a price assuming that it was in pretty good nick!

Thanks for the clarification bro! Have always preferred the no date sub. Looks perfectly aligned, as I'm kinda OCD -ish

What does random serial mean? Sorry noob questions. Always wanted to ask

The price has moved upwards over the last year or so. Hovering around the rm 20 k range or more now. Not too sure how many actually change hands.

random serial only contains numbers without alphabet at the beginning of the serial number

I brought 14060 (in 2015) at RM12800.00 new one are selling at RM30k++ at the moment. At that time that price for me is a pain in the arxx..... but now I can see the true value of the watch. I think its a good buy :)

Did you get your 14060 pre-owned?
In 2015, the Sub 114060 from AD was about RM26k.
A pre-owned 14060M at that time was about RM16k iirc.
-
Sorry my bad. It's 2005 not 2015. Typo. :Laughing_on_floor:
-
I think so far its not bad. based on what i've seen so far. Submariners has been like a blue chip Stock. keeps going up steadily
-
It's clearly a blue chip

Random serial numbers started only in 2010 and 14060 production ended the same year. Your watch most probably a 2010 make.
-
Good investment
-
14k is a good steal..
-
wow congrats on your new sub, 14k is a steal
there won't be a positive roi in a watch so it isn't an investment tool
that being said you could probably sell it at a price that beats inflation considering the price you have paid for the piece

totally agreed with u. spend money on what u like is an investment of self satisfaction and happiness.
-
Given on how much it has gained from 2015 to now, it would probably beat inflation. But generally speaking luxury watch market has been an uptrend over the past few years.
-
why buy a watch for investment?
-
perhaps not....many franken
-
A sub 14k Sub. Sublime.
-
yes, rolex , espcially gold
-
wow
-
watch is meant to be enjoy, not as investment, nevertheless good piece!
-
Rolex Sub always a good investment
-
IMO, Rolex subs are always a good investment. For investment purpose, it will be great to collect Rolex subs in mint condition and with full set.
-
Price gone up to above 25k after few years. Its proven that it is a good value appreciation watch.
-
rolex secondary market price is at peak now imo. is it a good time to buy one now?
-
Rolex submariner is indeed a good investment. the price just goes higher n higher

After studying the price of the old Rolex submariner , the increment of the older watch actually is greater than the latest Submariner. If given a choice ,I will consider to pay premium (about 20% more) for the newer version rather than old watches. I don’t have think about maintenance, I got latest technology, ceramic bezel, better clasp....yes the lug size is terrible big but it is still Rolex Sub.

Brand new 114060 premium is like RM 10K more, and that’s approx 35% +-

the price never stop increase! Rolex sub is hot cake.

I won’t put my investment in watch, the return is really hard to predict. Yes, everybody wants a Rolex, some people list their Rolex for months but still can’t get a buyer. I think, just buy for what I like, if it makes some profit, that’s bonus. Rolex is mass production watches, they aren’t really special, unless it is a Paul Newman Daytona or the GMT watch of the old Marine who bought when he was young.
