Hi members who is familiar with the brand, can enlighten me about the allure of the destro?
I know its kinda limited but what makes it so special besides the obvious?

Hi members who is familiar with the brand, can enlighten me about the allure of the destro?
I know its kinda limited but what makes it so special besides the obvious?

first of all Daestro is created is for military reasons, during WWII Italian Navy formed the world first underwater special forces and among them the most famous was the X MAS u can find the story here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decima_Flottiglia_MAS

And Panerai role at that time is to supply all the precision equitment for this specs forces operatives stuff like compass, watches, depth gauge and some timed explosive devices.....kakaka...so see Panerai is jahat one they work for the Facist (Mousollini) however some of the XMAS forces at the later part of WWII actually fight along the allies forces but some still remain killing italian Partisan in northern Italy.

So comeback to Daestro....it is created so that the divers can wear the compass on the left hand and the watch on the right...kakaka simple enough... ;D ;D

Destro is Panerai trick to make us pay more.. kakkaka.. kidding kidding..

but i think when you wind it, you need to flip it over and wind like a non-destro still right?

the movement is the same... u still wind it clockwise or upwards with right hand...

so if still want to use your right hand to wind the watch... no need to flip over... just turn the watch up side down will do!

if you wind with left hand.... wind it downwards!

Yeah! That's what I've thought!

Which lead me to think that the Destro is pure marketing (to promote their history) and to make few K extra by just flipping over the movement (of course like you once mentioned, you have to have different case to fit the flipped-movement), has no technical different compare to 112 (am i right?)... and good that Panerai make it rare so that it's still consider good buy (collector item) if one bought it at retail price or with some discount... i remember once this model has been goreng up near 30K... honestly, i don't find that's worth it with the goreng price :HammerHead:  Just my opinion la.. btw, i'm Panerai fans too

Well, ahem.....if you look at both watch carefully, the maker just flipped the dial - over...    and hey...destro!!!....NO?

dc
I am almost a recovered watchaholic, but last checked shows only 70% recovered. How?

I think the dial is still the same as 112 since it has not seconds ;) I guess just the movement and have different case (with different hole position) to fit the flipped-movement..
