A beater to consider
« on: January 21, 2012, 05:16:06 PM »
Whilst browsing around, I walked into a watch shop to have a look. The problem with looking is that there is always the danger of buying..I walked out with this.

The new Seiko LE diver..SRP233K1. It is limited to 1300 pieces. Initially I thought it was a Seiko Tuna. It comes with the new 4r36 automatic movement which hacks and handwinds( 2 very important features which i look for in a watch)

The red plastic shroud gives it the tuna look which confunded me to think that it was a Tuna. Not to mention the Tuna minute hand. Dial is a matte black with lumibrite applied on the markers for that signature seiko lume. It wears like a Monster and is quite hefty even on a rubber strap. Case size is at approx 43mm. Water resist is a cool 200m with the words "limited edition" written on the dial. The watch comes in a few variants but i was not able to photograph the rest.

The case back is still portraying the tsunami logo like the other Seiko divers.

A wrist shot to end the review

Thanks for reading.

The shroud to me feels like the polyurethane used in the gshock. Other sites say that it is plastic so I am not too sure as to the material. However, it is not SS coated in red paint.

Interesting as I just picked up one as well. I wonder about the Limited Edition 1,300 pieces as your model number is SRP233K1 while mine is SRP233J1. So is there 1,300 pieces of K1 and 1,300 J1? or a mix?

Apparently, the J indicates that it is made in Japan. While the K, is made outside of Japan. The number 1 after that is just whether it is a bracelet, or rubber strap or something else.

Same here, like the look and got it. Was just wondering out loud how the division of the LE between the J and K watches are made. One of those things that we will never know I guess. Anyway it is an awesome watch as for once the movement hacks and can be hand wound.

Nice looking Seiko, just wondering if the red plastic shroud is hard plastic? Also does it collect dust easily specially in between the bezel?
