the original egiziano is 60mm, it was designed for you to wear on your thick swim suit... bigger than b urh 55mm which was designed to be wear on pilot jacket.... so the question is.... too big? wearable? probably not.....
then why pam is building this limited edition egiziano?Retro watch company (RWC) was first to produce the egiziano 1954... i think in yr 2007.... (after it 1938a (california dial) launch yr 2006/05 sold out in flash) (side story - panerai produce the pam 249 a yr or 2 later )
47mm st steel case but without the signature crown guard.... it wasnt attractive.... then the bezel bit out.. retail at usd 1.1k with std eta6497 movement... it doesnt sell well.... reason could be no crown guard or price not really cheap....
http://www.retrospectwatch.com/1954.htmlthen ennebi also producing egiziano..... above is a prototype made by them for panerai...
this is unreleased model... the
5218-MMbeside the 47mm famous ennebi divers watch
so why is pam buidling this huge.... unwearable egiziano?with the price of USD 30,000.... i think is purely because of $$$....
i dunno.... someday ppl may wear this to town.... pam 44mm watches no longer big to us now... the 47mm is normal to alot of guys....
our fren also wearing big pilot at 46mm
i do own a couple of watches bigger than 44mm...
maybe i should make this egiziano my next project watch....
