Rolex vs Grand Seiko vs Panerai......
« on: August 04, 2013, 04:25:25 PM »
Hei, that a Panerai.......; A friend with managerial level owned a Panerai.....;

It time to get a better watches......... Since my work position require so.......

Many may not agree with me, but I believe car & watches.... is a tools to bring your business to next level........

Panerai, Rolex & Grand Seiko....... come into my mind.........

Do my little home work.............;

Panerai............ 1st Out of Picture....... becoz I don't see the good side of it beside than oversize and special guard crown....., yes true enough people notice that a Panerai from special guard crown... resales value???? Sorry Panerai Fan.......

Rolex Vs Grand Seiko;

Rolex Pro - reputable brand, better resale value, I think the only watch that any of their series can resale for at least 50% of your buying price

Rolex Con - Hei your Rolex fake?.......Nowaday robotic assembly.......

Grand Seiko Pro - Hand made and very well finish product; Spring Drive movement superb smooth (I never seen any watches movement better than this), no fake.......

Grand Seiko Con - Are you crazy? you buy a seiko for 20K?; No resale value..........

What about you?

So what your choice?

I tend to believe that one will not be able to enjoy this hobby if he is too concerned about resale value. Anyway, here's my take on your choices:

Rolex - reliable watches, but a little conservative and boring. If your job requires lots of creativity and high risk taking, your boss may come to the opinion (whether rightly or wrongly) that you do not have that special trait to fly high.

Grand Seiko - reliable watches, top notch finishing comparable to the Swiss JLC, superb technology yet low profile (many non-WIS are not aware of GS). But your boss (like you) may be someone who thinks a lot about resale value and seeing your Grand Seiko he will suspect he has been paying you far too much to the extent you become reckless and irresponsible (both in his opinion only) with your finances and decides not to give you a bonus or increment.

And to answer your question.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctj-RDbTBMU

I have been labelled an Omega convert 3 times over the last 3 days.

If resale is the only concern to you, no need to make this thread go any longer, buy a Rolex SS sports model...highest resale among the 3 brands

I used to own 4 Rollie SS sports, 3 Omegas, etc
Now own 4 Grand Seikos, 3 JLCs, 2 GOs, IWC, Tudor, Damasko, Ananta, etc
So I'm talking from experience of both Rolex and GS resale value
The new Omega 8500/9300s are superb but resale value not tested yet

Personal taste and preferences evolve over years, hopefully not 1 full circle otherwise it means we haven't learnt a single thing.

What about Ulysse Nardin (typical boss' watch next to Rolex, I reckon) or JLC then? Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

It's good to have such headache. I do not have the high-end pieces that David has, but the Spring Drive is indeed superb technology. Go for it!!!!

Another pic....

Based on your statements, I would say that Milgauss GV is best for you. 2nd choice is IWC Inge. 3rd choice is other anti-magnetic watches...he..he..

I am Boss myself in my small company

it is good to be a boss, you can wear whatever you like

wear nice stuff, people admire because you are boss

wear cheap stuff, people respect because even you are boss but low profile

wear replica stuff, people still believe it is the real deal, because you are boss

no wonder what you wear, you win one way or another

I wish I am a boss too
