Hi MWF fellas,
I have about RM15K budget and planning to upgrade from a Tissot I’m currently wearing. I’ve got my eyes on Tudor BB 58 but would like to hear your opinions. New or pre-owned is fine for me. Thanks!
-
The BB58 is a great choice at 14k from the boutique. Looks good with the bracelet, but also dresses up with a leather band. They’re just hard to find in stock. I’ve been waitlisted for half a year now, no luck yet.

Have you considered Tudor GMT? I like the GMT better than the BB58 ;D The GMT suitable for diving as well as for the function of GMT.
But if you're a vintage lover and prefer a smaller size, I think it would be better for you to go for BB58.

preowned tudor blackbay or pelagos, omega seamaster, iwc pilot?
-
What about pre-owned Rolex Datejust? 16013s or 16014s can be had at your price point

I did briefly consider about it but I find it a bit too mature for my taste (and age).

Tbh I have not really tried it on. But I heard there’s some issue with the date jump?

There were some reported from the early batches but it's an easy fix anyway. Just run through the date at the point of purchase to check on the matter. I have purchased and flipped a no. of Tudor GMTs and no issues with the ones I had gotten; so it ain't that big an incidences really.

Perhaps you top up a little bit more, you can get a brand new Omega Seamaster DIVER 300M CO?AXIAL 36.25 MM at about RM 18k.
Because earlier this year, planet ocean was crowned the no. 1 diver watch that actually dived to the deepest ocean floor. The depth achieved is 10,928 meters at Mariana Trench.
-
Tissot bro, otherwise go to longines
-
Just go for a used Omega Planet Ocean or used Panerai base model like PAM000.
-
I would get a Datejust, Airking or Tank ;)

I second this. The new AirKing is really nice (but you might need to top up).

I think you have to ask yourself, what is the essential criteria for this watch?
1. Type..sports or dress? For this budget, most likely it will be sports watch. Divers/chorono/plain 3 hands?
2. Manual or auto wound?
3. Dial type..arabic numerals, no date or date, legibility..etc
4. Case thickness...I much later found out how important it is for me. 12mm and below is my criteria now.
So read, search, and try it on..you'll have better clarity, and hopefully not have buyers remorse after owning it.
Regardless..I think you will not go wrong with the Tudor BB58
-
Spot on!
1. Yes. Most likely a sport watch, diver or GMT as I already have a chrono.
2. Auto, preferably.
3. Tbh haven’t given much thought to it, but legibility is definitely something important.
4. My current chrono is that perhaps too thick, so I’m looking something thinner.
BB 58 is gonna be a year’s wait (at least)! But thanks to all the advice I got from MWF, I’ve narrowed down to BB58/GMT, IEC Pilot, Rolex date just and Omega Speedmaster.
Welcome more suggestions!

For legibility a pilot watch is the best...can’t go wrong with IWC Pilot

zenith pilot
-
for used, i'd probably go with a seamaster or planet ocean, for new i'd lean towards tudor black bay series or the pelagos
-
I like BB 58 but too bad it comes with no date.A watch with date is utterly important to me ;D
-
I'd go for a moonwatch.

Get a Tudor GMT or 58. It worth for the value and nice.

BB58 waiting list is mostly on bracelet model, if you opt for leather, it will be faster

It is a nice watch indeed but I’m not sure if it’s below RM15K... :P
-
I would recommend a good used Omega Seamaster, they are really solid piece. My seamaster 300m professional from 1996 is still running well with a nice patina now . But the BB58 is just perfect in size . Like those old vintage subs. Love it! only thing is it is rare to find one readily available.
-
With that budget you'll most probably be looking at the Tudor Black Bay or Seamaster from Omega. Personally I tried on both and went with the BB for that added character and fell in love with the vintage tone of the BBs. FYI I got the steel & gold version on a vintage leather strap. Love it to bits!

find preowner grand seiko

I'd like one of these too, which model would you recommend?
There are a few models, namely:
1. Frederique Constant Manufacture Classic or Slimline
2. Montblanc Star or Heritage
3. Longines Conquest or Master Collection
4. Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon

On the premise you don't intend to actually go diving or swimming with your watch, gonna suggest the Nomos Worldtimer.
Have had mine for 4 years and it's a peach. The finishing on the movement is out of the world for the price and the gmt-ish function is pretty damn useful as well

That's an excellent choice for the budget, pre-owned. You cannot go wrong with Nomos.

And if you go through the "right" channels online you can get it new very close to RM15k. I got mine below that when €1 was closer to RM4

I would recommend to go for Tudor GMT, definitely a good piece to have!

If your budget can be stretched a bit, OP39mm white is nice.
