Anyone have any idea to invest in unit trust? Let's share our personal experience.
-
Best to get direct exposure instead of getting unit trust companies to manage. The cost of "management" eats the bulk of your gross returns anyway.
For direct investment to the equity market, since one lot is just 100 shares, to get a diversified portfolio, but about 7 counters that you like that have potential. My personal investment mantra "if you use their products and services, you can buy their shares".

I am not buying any Richemont or Swatch Group's shares, no way >:(.
if I must ... ... maybe LVMH ... only maybe.

Tyler

I believe to really make money in Unit Trust is long term Regular Savings method.
Unit Trust is good for newbie investor who doesn't know much about stocks itself.

Some HL fund fellows (I met last week) proposed that if I invested rm20k per year and continue for the next 6 years with the same amount, my returns is rm5k per annum. If you invested rm100k > rm25 per annum, The period must be 6 years, etc....

pardon my ignorance.. is the return good enough to offset the mortgage interest rate?
thinking if i have the spare cash, should i invest in something long term like that to offset the interest rate or use the money to pay off a mortgage as soon as possible.
which is more viable?
-
i guess there is not much investment can offset the inflation in the country. but if the return is low, is rather than we save it in our bank account that only earn a bit interest (some even do not have interest).
for a "kai su" people, FD or those fixed return investment will be a better choice because they do not need to worry about the return. and for those who not scare of losing their money, they can go invest on those high risk investment (high risk, high return).

Buy share direct!!! L&G, instaco, mitra, hibiscus, maybulk, caely are some of good stock to buy next monday.

unit trust is crap. it is nonsense if anyone preach it is for long term. ask yourself where did unit trust make their money from? leverage on equities, real estates, bonds, etc??? if so why do i need to put my money in the hands of fund managers when i can invest directly myself. fund managers have personal agenda like making money for himself/herself above all else. i just don't trust my money in the hands of strangers.

I just decided to quit Public Mutual Unit Trust. It's dragging me. I am a happy bird now
-
annual fees >:(
-
started bought ut in 1989 to 1992 KL mutual (Public) bought RM1.25 sold some at 60 sen, take the money for China trip 1992 cost RM2200
Peking(now Beijing) now stop buying.
-
I am surprised to hear that, isn't KL Mutual the lead earner amongst all UT?
-
all investments take risk, when i bought was high when I sell market down but not
very low it went down to about 30 sen when up to 67plus sen i sold all
-
I believe the initial high commission imposed on the unit trust and the existing market conditions with low sentiment now pro-long the holding period to break-even or profitable for those unit trust holders. I have not invested in unit trust in view of this.
-
I sold off all my HLB asso UT few yrs ago, after holding its for 5 yrs, luckily made ~30% profit! From then on, learnt my lesson, ....... never invest in UT anymore, as its mainly enriching its Fund Managers, who obviously making fun out of our investment!
-
30% after 5 years which is 6% profit per annum
still better than FD

Hi guys
I had experiences investing in stocks and also unit trust. I bought quite a few portfolios of unit trust
So far in my humble opinion i still feel stocks offers better returns over the years comparing to unit trust.
-
Guys, best to buy stocks directly. I suggest getting stocks of companies that provides products and services that you use often - e.g. Tenaga etc. Diversify your portfolio to at least 5 counters. Take a seat back and you'll start to see value creation - good luck!
