My friend in Jakarta recently bought one there.
Apparently the practice there is, for watches like Batman which is in great demand, dealers only allow you to buy in 'bundle'.
ie you cant just buy Batman alone, u also have to buy another watch at the same time.
Luckily for him, he got another friend who wanted to get a Tudor.
I can't believe Rolex would sanction such a practice..but there you go..

Impossible to spot one at AD in HK and Japan Isetan.

It’s not impossible to get one. It’s just impossible to get one at MSRP these days. Most will have to pay a hefty premium just to get one. I saw one going for around HKD 82,000 at a retailer. It was the only sports model available after a friend picked up his 114060.

Premium is everywhere, retail is really depends on your luck.

Saw 2 GMT TT at Bangsar AD too. WG and YW Submariner at Bangkok AD, Erawan there. No sport model at HK (normally can get it easily from AD) and Tokyo Isetan, and only one Explorer 2 spotted at Sapporo Isetan.

Yes, some ADs would sell to known buyers if they were buying in a bundle deal. For instance, I recently came across 2 new BLNRs from an AD but the catch was that I have to buy a YM40 together. So I took the bundle deal, and flipped off both the BLNRs within a day the advert came out. You just have to know where to look for these elusive pieces, that's all.

Yes. Even the new Daytona, white dial. My AD can let it go at the condition of purchase DD 40mm together.

There are plenty of Batmans in KL non-AD dealers, going for about 41-42k new. Most are from HK, Middle East, EU ADs. You need to accept the fact that even if there is one available at local ADs at official selling price, it would be resold at premium by their bosses or own staff ... it's only human nature to take such easy profit.

I wonder if Rolex is aware of this 'bundling' practise...its so unethical..

If you and I aware of it, I can’t see why they are not aware of it. Like it or not, everyone love hotcake. The harder it take to get it, the more you want it.

It's just another loophole ADs use to make more sales, profit etc. Patek has been doing this bundling for some time with their Aquanaut & Nautilus.
End of the day, this choking of supply by Rolex is only hurting their loyal customers & true watch enthusiasts whilst making the middlemen rich.
-
I found one easily. Posted the details but my post got deleted. Must be a forum violation. Sorry moderators, i'm still learning the rules here. Anyway, it's not that difficult to find and quite readily available.

Thats true..
I can understand them limiting the supply to maintain exclusivity etc but to encourage bundling is a different thing altogether.
But I guess, when demand is high, its sellers market..sigh

There is zero chance for you to get Nautilus on the spot. So no worry, just walk in there.

Quite reasonable AD you got there. Theres one AD asking me to buy rm80k of other rolex models before he can give me a BLNR at retail. So total purchase will be 115k. Absurd.
