As much as i like a DSLR its just not practical for me. And when i save up enough...somehow i end up buying another watch :P
Not too sure bout those micro 4/3 as well since will spend alot of money buying other lenses.
So how about a good all rounder? Any suggestions from the guru's here?
All i can think off now is Panasonic LX-5 and Canon S95.
What are their retail prices anyways?
Bloody Chiewata and others here poison me on Fujifilm X100 but at rm4k list price hard for me to pull the trigger.
-
Definitely LX5
-
Reason?
-
Chiewata also mention Olympus XZ-1... I love to get my hands on it... Still indecisive...
-
lx5 is good enough bro.
-
Reason?
I had the older LX3 and I really love it. I was skeptical at first and was deciding between it and canon G11. I wanted G11 but took a leap of faith and got the LX3 instead for my trip to HCMC. I couldn't be happier. Love the 24mm end and fast f/2.
You should compare it with the Olympus xz-1 and see which you like better.
-
I think when based on specs the Olympus now wins by a bit.
But if talking about compact then the S95 is one strong contender.
Any shoots to show?
-
+1 for LX5, sold my s90 because not so easy to use :P (maybe I'm stupid).
LX5 got leica lens, can't own the cam, own the lens oso cukup :Laughing_on_floor:

Didnt know you got S90 Ken....some of our members here have it and has high praise for it wor.

i bought it based on good reviews as well, but i'm too stupid to use it I guess. (impatient boy I am)
i think it's more for semi-auto users.
everything is solid (built, feel, controls, powderful flash) except when downloaded pics to pc find them unsatisfactory to my liking.

here's a couple of snap shots from a LX3 - night shot is handheld

All the poison online is telling me to get the X100 but i will still have to test it out myself to make sure.
But noob question, if i am someone who just use auto mode 90% of the time will this make me not get the x100?
Although i was into photography in my highschool years i stopped cause no money to develop film anymore....u know the feeling hehe.....
So since the late 90's i have been out of the game, although it would be nice to get into it again.
But my lifestyle and daily even weekend life does not call for a something too high tech (maybe will change?). Right now all the pics i am taking that you see on the website is using my phone haha

Peter,
I bought the XZ-1 and was particularly impressed with its Art Filter. The LED screen looks fantastic, even better than the photos itself when viewed on laptop. ;D
-
no perfect or best of all round camera la.... it's really depend what you want to shoot.. that's why a lot people end up buying few cameras or a lot lenses...
-
Thanks for all the suggestions but nothing beats testing it out at the shop.
At the end......i have gone to the dark side.

I am a Canon guy at heart but at this price range and model range, Nikon had Cannon beaten.
No Fuji X100 anywhere.
Tested the XZ-1 and i must say it is a great little thing!
-
Great Pete, welcome to the dark side ;D
Can shoot nice watch pictures already.
One small note though, shoudl have opt for 50mm f.18 instead of 35mm f1.8 to save on few bucks.

Nice collection you have there.
Love the Leica, always wondered whats the difference between this and the Panasonic version?
Is it just cosmetic and software difference?

Was told that the software is different. My view of the Leica? As the name suggest, Leica C-Lux, the camera suxs.... big time. It seems the Panasonic version is better. Oh well, the price you pay for the Red Dot. ;D

Can anyone confirm that the Nikon D7000 batt life is only 200 shoots?
I cant find that info anywhere. Was told this by the shop person. Seems very low.
-
EN-EL15 should be good for about 1,050 shots according to CIPA standards.
-
Hmmm that sounds more logical.
Even discount it by 50% still can get 500 shoots which is not bad.
Looks like the sales really dunno what he and she is talking about.
Or they were trying to cheat us into buying extra batt.
-
U can actually test it out to confirm.. but it's all depend on the environment where you shoot... colder place drain battery faster...
-
my gf1 battery also not bad....
after full charge, i used it 1 day in zoo negara and another 4 days in kuching... the apre i brought still unuse
