hi zameen,
noticed that you have a daylight chrono. was looking at a 251 the other day and what's your take on chrono Pams? the cream dial looks sweet
Hi Terrence,
I have the 250 daylight and loving it- the way the pushers are integrated with the crown guard is simply sublime. As far as chrono goes, the 250/251 is not that busy. The valjoux 7750 based movement is a proven workhorse and and so far has not given me even the slightest problem.
HOWEVER, most paneristis are more partial towards historical models where the drivers are simplicity and in most cases, T-dials' patina. So more "modern" PAMs like the 250/251 are usually not that high in the list in terms of "desirability" for most of the paneristis (its too busy a dial for most of us ristis)- if you are looking for a keeper then it's not an issue but if you are thinking of selling it later, be prepared to take a bigger cut compared to historical PAMs (in some cases, historical PAM SEs like the 232,249,127,217,360 have all at least doubled their retail price in the second hand market). I love the white dial of the 251-put on a tan strap from Simona or one of those French Ammo straps, and you'll have a winner for sure!
My take on a PAM is always this : buy a piece that sings to you. watches are never good investments- you might get lucky once in a while but in most cases you wont. A piece that sings to you will ensure that it'll always have wrist time and hence getting most out of what you paid.
Cheers & Crownguards
