Second of the watches I am letting go - needs no introduction, the Seiko 6309-7040 "Turtle". Not as famous as the 6105, but still a classic vintage Seiko. Reluctant sale, only because I have too many watches to get fair wrist time for it.
Bought this used locally, then sent to Bob Thayer in the US 3 yrs ago for full restoration - full movement overhaul, case refinish, sapphire crystal, relume and new gaskets. Case had minor scuffs from my 3 years of use as expected, but bezel/crystal is unmarked. No Philippines or HK aftermarket parts, watch is fully original. Serial number shows 1982 manufacture. Size is 44mm, but wears very comfortably due to that big cushion-like case. Slight customisation is super bright blue lume for the hour markers and green for the hands, plus a red tip on the seconds hand. It is no longer rated at 150m waterproof, expected for a 30 year old watch but I have got it wet before with no problems. Crown screws in securely, and day/date changes perfectly. Bezel is tight and clicks correctly.
Come with a box and three leather straps (one is a unused Brady sailcloth) but not the original Seiko rubber strap as I am not a fan of those.
