Getting hot

Rolex 1016 and 1655 used to be cheaper. Now they're out of reach. For the same price, I opted to get a vintage Patek Aquanaut. Better watch imo.

Patek aquanaut is also hot cake now. Price is beyond  reach and I wish I can collect more of them when they are still affordable. :)

And congrats  on your new aquanaut. Excellent choice

everything is kinda going up but i feel like it some are very overpriced. The Rolex 36 14270/114270 for example is crazy priced up till almost the same as the new pieces nowadays.

Bro, which model do you reckon would be a good entry point for PP Aquanaut vintage (from size/movement/price point)?

I think in terms of size you'll need to go for the 5065 or 5167. Both are like 100k and above today.

If you have a small wrist like me, you can get the 5060 or the 5066. These will set you back around 80k.

Or you can get vintage Rolex and be happy. The red 1680 could be found for like 65k. The 1655 explorer is also a good choice at around 70k.

All the best!

Thanks bro! Been looking at Expl 1016 too though it’s a bit small but super nice!

Will check out 5060 and 5066!

Another quick question though - do you normally go for box & paper for these vintage, or fine with watch-only? Price seems astronomically higher for full B&P set.

I'm happy without box and papers for a better price. You can ask for papers from archives for patek so that should help. They check to see that your watch isn't in their 'stolen' list.

Condition of the watch is the most important feature.

The rolex 1016 has surged in price so much that I feel it's not worth it anymore. But I guess that could be said for most vintage rolex today.

I've never ever seen a 1016 in the wild in Malaysia
