Revive old Rolex

I have an old Rolex Oysterdate that belongs to my grandfather. It has been lying about for 50 years. you think it can be salvaged? i would like to get it going for sentimental reasons.
Would appreciate it if anybody can recommend me a rolex expert.

Depending on condition.  I am still occasionally wearing a 44 year old 1603 and it generally works fine (just one occasion when it stopped but with a little "movement", it was ok since then) so I don't see why it cannot be salvaged if it is well kept.  Any rust exterior? (I assume you haven't opened it to have a peek  on the inside).

Wearing your granddad's watch will be special ...

If you have the budget, best to go to a RSC, else you can try MWF own shop.

There are no rust, but the crown is jammed solid. it has not been moved for 50 years.

Ah ya, the crown will be jammed if it hasn't been serviced.  I had one serviced after ~20 years, and the crown was also jammed but the service centres will have the tools.

MWF recently serviced a 20+ yrs rolex.
its jammed.

soak in the chemical for 2 wks still cant open
try every 3 days
till 6 weeks only manage to open

parts dissemble and ultra sonic
oil and gasket change
case lightly polish

phew..... tough job

My Tudor Rolex my uncle bought in 1960 for $152, pass to me need repair I sent to RSC in the 90 at arab malaysian building jalan raja chulan.
Their cannot repair as it too old no spare parts and sent to third party shop cost me RM 160
and now still working after more than 20 years after repair.

R s c but you have to be specific is don't touch the dial and hands just service or polish or not to polish
