This was my yearly trip to China end of last year.
After visiting Zhangjiajie in 2012, which is famous for its mountains, I decided to visit another place which is well known for its WATER features : Jiuzhaigou...
Here the journey starts : a direct flight from KL to Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, China.
When in Chengdu, the 1st destination will always be the Panda centre. A good preview before u can see the pandas at Zoo Negara. ;D

Now come the star of this trip, Jiuzhaigou. A flight from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou airport at 3500 m above sea level! The highest altitude I ever landed.

Huang Long (Yellow Dragon) was our next destination.
To reach there, we have to pass a 4000 m mountain range road. It started snowing and roads were slippery. The tour guide was reluctant to go but we insisted.

It was a 4-5 km walk to & fro on this kind of walkway. But the sub-zero temperature & 3500 m altitude was killing us. U will feel dizzy & short-breath.

Er Mei Mountain takes a uphill walk of 1.6 km, followed by cable car.
Jiuzhaigou was easier though cover a long distance cos there are electric buses taking visitors from one spot to the other. It is quoted as the most well reserved national park in China. These bus are under trial now in Putrajaya from what I read.
Huang Long walk is the longest but u don't need to go the whole distance.

And I'm not a food expert, better leave that part to u when u visit there. ;D
The typical spicy & oily Sichuan food was nice the first 3 days but screwed my stomach after that. :Mad:

Thx Jacky. I'm still using my old faithful Lumix FZ-150 and Olympus XZ-1 as backup. The FZ-150 is due for replacement but am waiting for the FZ-200 replacement, FZ-250 perhaps.
There are so many new models around, but very likely to stick with super zoom since I like wildlife photography ;D .Most cameras are equally good nowadays. My consideration is always sub RM2,000 super zoom. After all, digital gadgets improves so quickly, why spend so much when it is likely to be cheaper & better. My FZ-150 has weathered through desert sand & water fall, and I'm not worried a bit.
Chris, take your time. Family always come first. I only travel intensively after my 3rd baby. ;D

If Jiu Zhai Gou is your thing, I would highly recommend Zhang Jia Jie as well - the place they picked to film the movie Avatar. ZJJ is also another gem of earth. Unimaginable scene. Do some google image search - and you'll be amazed.
Looking forward to visit JZG after seeing all your pics.
