Half a million for 3 watches ah... hmmm... without thinking too hard (after all, it's paid for):

1) Sports : Daytona Paul Newman
2) Dress : PP Nautilus 5711G
3) Special : Richard Lange Tourbillon “Pour le Mérite” Handwerkskunst (if money not enough, will wait for new thread with $1m budget)

As for the MB, I offer to give you some space in my safe. Absence makes the heart grow fonder... when you miss it too much, I'll return it to you. But if you don't, you won't even notice it's missing...

5711 for a dress watch?? Heck, it's SS on a steel bracelet so I'd say it fits the tool watch category although I'm not too sure the 324 movement can't take daily abuse. It seems like it wouldn't fit in either category!

Right off my mind.

1) sports - aproo (the new 42mm are nice, had a chance to see it in Taipei. Loved the black dial version.)
2) dress - Lange 1 in pt
3) special - patek 5140 perpetual calendar.

If budget is 50k

1) sports - Rolex sub nd
2) dress - Rolex Dj
3) special - the new and smaller seiko astron

That's just me.

Wouldn't need to exhaust the budget, I'd go simple:

1. Rolex Sub
2. AP 15300
3. PP Nautilus 5711

Yes. The idea is to share your "only" 3 watches and not trying to maximise the RM500k price tag.
Personally, I would prefer something conventional says a sub or APRO to, says MB&F for practical reason (if I would to own only 3 watches).
For me, some of the watches over US$100,000 never "speak" to me - either my mind blocked them off completely because they are far out of reach, or the watches seem to show me snob face and says "hands off, you can't afford"

There seems to be an emerging trend on members' preference.
Tally so far.

Rolex - 15 (The clear leader - bro contender voted rolex 3x)
AP - 9 (a members' favourite for 2nd sport / tool watch)  :D
ALS- 8 (most popular dress watch)
PP - 5
VC, PAM - 2
1 - JLC, GS, IWC, Urwerk, Harry Winson, G-Shock, Omega, Zenith, Richard Mille, GO, Minerva, De Bethune

I want to play, I want to play!

Only 3? Easy!

-Rolex Pepsi GMT with patina- for the usual daily wear.  Tells you the time, date and also the time in UK as you're preparing for weekend BPL matches....  Also a respectable piece among watch and Rolex lovers.  Even those high and mighty purist vintage collectors will also nod (although only a little bit) in approval

-A Panerai zero.   I just love Panerai.  The history, the design, the case, the fashionable straps....  And the fact that it split opinions among WIS.  More importantly, I want to feel manly and macho, when i am watching reruns of GI JOE, The Expendables, Daylight on Astro...   ;D.  ...

-A Royal Oak.  Cant go wrong with GG's design. Its always good to know when (but dunno when...) I am invited to a function where Lee Hsien Loong or Michelle Yeoh or Who's Who are among the guests, I have the time piece for it... ;D

-An Orange Monster.  You need something like this  when you're worried about scratches, falling down, robbery and yet at the same time, want to be able to attract the attention of another WIS that you might meet along the way

-an IWC pilot.  Boys love planes.  And having a pilot watch does goes a long way in giving you a false but satisfying sense of heroism...flying a plane high above the clouds.. Especially if the watch designed and produced by a company that puts such an exquisite sounding name on their dial...say it softly with me....Schaffhausen....Schaffhausen....
Since my wrist cannot take a Big Pilot, a simple Mark will do

-JLC Reverso.....There are  days when you see a rectangle shaped watch, and then you realised that its the brand that defines the glamorous JLC..and .....

wait......thats 6...and i still have a few more on my list...

I don't want to play oredi!!!!!

It's my type of dressy watch... classic yet bit rugged that fits various formal and less formal functions/occasions. You guys are upgrading the tool watch category!

I think I'm confusing the tool and sports watch category as I usually lump that together....  :P

Dress Watch: AP ROO Rose Gold
Sports Watch: Rolex DSSD
Special: IWC Perpetual Calender ( I like this over Patek because it's a big watch since I like watches with impressive wrist presence).

Most Pateks are quite small and not to my taste even though the legacy & history of Patek is impressive! If they could make an oversized Nautilus, that would be ideal!
