I think the word glue gives a negative connotation. If perhaps we use the word adhesive, it would probably seem acceptable. There are many high performance adhesives used in the industrial world, like how Lotus use it to bond their chassis components, and also in aerospace. If anyone can enlighten as to what type of adhesive is used in watchmaking, that would surely shed some light.
Epoxy resin glue
Damn strong stuff.

Epoxy resin shouldn't come off. Maybe it was UHU ??

Araldite, a type of epoxy glue is used in the jewellery business, sticking gems to metal. This same araldite is also used to stick golf club heads to steel or graphite shaft. For watches, I think the makers only use loctite for ease of application! :HammerHead:

If that is true, no wonder the bezel fell off, loctite is just an adherent, not an adhesive - it's not meant to permanent. That is really cutting corners!  :HammerHead:

BTW, they use Araldite in the construction of the new Coventry Cathedral and the Sydney Opera house.

Cool watch bro, guess we have the last of the reasonable sized inhouse Ingys since the new 40mm are Selita/ETA based calibres.

Hi rusminag,

Is your captain winsor the black LE or the blue version. Could not tell from the photo.
May I ask how would you rate this piece in terms of its functionality and built.
Had a chance to molest it today at an AD and interested.

Regards
TSW

Captain Winsor only come in blue or white dial only. Top notch finishing. A bit hassle to change the month (using date control). Overall good value for money with El Primero chronograph hi beat 36,000 bph. Top it up with MIH Dr Ludwig's annual calendar complication. Even Watchsnob approves it.

A very nice pic of the watch.
Can clearly see the patina of the markers.
