Title: My First Made in Deutschland ...
Post by: ck77 on May 08, 2010, 12:09:24 PM
... but with a Japanese heart  ;D

Been lurking for b-uhr for few months now. Some history of the original WWII pilot watch can be found here, http://www.calibremagazine.com/node/305 (http://www.calibremagazine.com/node/305)

Finally decided on Laco Miyota Pilot B due to its price and originality of the b-uhr. Chose B dial coz I find A dial is too common and plain for my liking.
This is the original spec for B dial b-uhr. 55mm in size! Easily readable and wear outside the flight suit.

Shipping was fast, 3 days from Germany to KL with FedEx and having tracking it daily  ;)
No frills packaging, simple box and user manual cum warranty card.

Special request for no logo dial to reflect the original spirit of b-uhr. 42mm in brushed steel, mineral cystal glass, inner hour markers with outter minute markers. Still getting used to the short hour hand.

Non screw-in onion crown, would not put a mark on the back of your hand easily like diamond crown.

Polished steel clear case back with mineral cystal. Mitoya 8215 workhorse. Second hand running smoothly, no stutter issue so far (touch wood  :Praying: )

Original pilot strap with rivets. Strap alone cost EUR49.00
(http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s246/ongck77/DSC_6297.jpg)

Need some times to figure how to wear the strap  :-[ Strap sitting nicely on my wrist in last hole. People with small wrist might need to request for shorter strap or punch additional holes.

Lume nicely with superluminova.

And lastly, compulsory wrist shot.

Very limited production due to parts availability (or financial difficulty), stocks usually sold off within days.
Though not as historically correct spec as Chris' WUS LE, but I don't mind, Laco is one of the 5 original b-uhr makers afterall :Dancing_banana:

Finally after so many times we chatting online you got it, congrats man.
Besides the dial the strap really makes this watch something special.
Is the sec hand stutter issue common among the Miyota movt of your type?

Stutter is the common issue for Miyota 8215 from what I read in some forums.

On last occasion he omitted my request and printed all the dials  :HammerHead: Gotta wait 2 months again for new dial to come.
I even ask for blue hands, diamond crown, solid case back and lume like original spec. But that's too much for him to accomodate for my only order  :Laughing_on_floor:

It is automatic by using Miyota (Japan) movement. The one you saw is using ETA (Swiss) movement.

Hi Guys,

Am new here.

Am interested in the Laco watch as well.

Can I enquire the actual price of the watch plus shipping and tax?

I realize there's another online store based in S'pore.  What make you guys buy from laco online and not this one??

Cheers

Google it you will reach its website.
BUy direct from Laco will waived the VAT, thus cost less than S'pore seller.

With logo.

This will be my first Laco, so, I prefer the logo to be there.

Maybe will ask for one without logo if i order my 2nd Laco.

If the Miyota B looks good on my wrist (I have a small wrist), may want the Miyota A as well, buy the 36mm for my wife!!

Heheheheh, she is into this 'matching watch' thingy which I am trying to avoid (diplomatically, of course)!!

Cheers

Thanks great reply bro. I like the simplicity of the pilot watch design but my wife says too plain jane for her taste, i could only laugh at her remarks. LOL  :Laughing_on_floor:
