Audemars Piguet ROO Sincere "Tantalum" Limited Edition
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:24:26 PM »
Please allow me to share the newest addition to my stable
The Audemars Piguet ROO  Sincere "Tantalum" Limited Edition specially  made for the 50th Year Anniversary of
Sincere Watches of Singapore

This is the light gray dial version which came out in 25/50 while the other 25/50 came out in dark gray dial.

What makes this timepiece extra special is the octagonal bezel made in Tantalum metal
Tantalum is a rare, hard, blue-gray, lustrous transition metal that is highly corrosion resistant even to nitro-hydrochloric acid
It is heavier than steel and has a high melting point of 3017 °C (boiling point 5458 °C) making it very difficult to fabricate

To date, only three watch brands has dared to produce a limited number of their watches in tantalum metal: Panerai, Hublot and Audemars Piguet

This rare piece has had some brief stints at the Antiquorum auction in New York on 7 Dec 2005
and Sotheby's (Hong Kong 2010) http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:9eUZrApxfAAJ:www.artvalue.com/auctionresult--audemars-piguet-switzerland-an-oversized-limited-edition-t-2616399.htm+audemars+piguet+sincere+tantalum&cd=37&hl=tl&ct=clnk&gl=ph&client=firefox&source=www.google.com.ph

Check out the mesmerizing bluish gray hue of the tantalum bezel blending well
with the light gray panda dial with "Clous de Paris" decoration
The first ever Panda Dial to come out from the Audemars Piguet ROO series

Mounted an XL AP OEM gray horn back strap

A rare and a beautiful watch. One of the holy grail at the moment.

Wear it in good health.

Very special ROO you have there. So did you get it at auction or dealer?

Looks to be in very good shape for its age.

Thank you takashi78
A good friend of mine got it for me from a local collector back in Singapore

It immediately went to the AP Singapore Service Center for a service maintenance
That explains the sticker on the deployant ;D

Master ninja, glad to see you back after MIA for a while. Now, I see the reason, ......... to seek this hard to get piece! Very desirable

Thank you master zitan

I've always wanted a special metal in a watch. The AP Ceramet was one of the considerations but the price is just crazy
I can live with this Tantalum

Master ninja, beside ROO, have you consider IWC, Pam or Hublot? I guess these will look great on your wrist too. ........... Silly question, I'm sure you will slowly reveal more of these gems in due course

Hi master zitan

I had a Hublot Big Bang in SS before but had to let it go when I was introduced to AP ROO

My first ever IWC was a GST Rattrapante in SS and black face but had to let it go to a colleague I couldn't say no. I once had this special IWC Doppel chrono Carlson Limited Edition of 50 pieces
Sold it too to a friend I couldn't say no to

Gone but never forgotten

It even had a special number

All that is left with me from the IWC brand is a gift from my wife that I swore not to let go

Thank you, Master ninja. I've googled the IWC GST Rattrapante in SS and black face, very desirable piece:

That's the type of Swiss split seconds chronograph that I always wanted, but, its few & far between! Else, its price is very expensive :'( Your colleague sound like a very powerful person that can wrestled em from you :Startled: Could he be the one who party with Paris Hilton, the organiser of The Journey Through Time or the lady who has fetish for owning mega diamond but telling other to foot the bill? ???

Your other pieces were great too, esp, the gift .......... a keeper

Reading your post is really refreshing after a tiring morning work

Ha ha ha.  :Laughing_on_floor:

My friend is a classmate back in medical school. We go a long way. I have been guiding him in his watch collecting.

You are correct. That is the exact IWC that I once had. It's really beautiful. The huge case houses a heavily modified Valjoux 7750 movement. The GST has been long discontinued. If have a chance to get one, snatch it right away.you won't regret it. I did :'(
