Seiko SNJ023

First off, a stock photo and let's just get the obvious out of the way that this is a poor man's Omega X-33.

This model has long been out of production - since 2007/08 - but NOS do appear on ebay from time to time.
To the best of my knowledge this is also the last ana-digi produced from Seiko, with the H024 movement fading away from memory with no successor since.

Specs for the stainless steel case is basically 44mm wide and 13mm thick, yet wears smaller due to the aluminium bezel measuring only 40mm across.

The bracelet meanwhile is a pretty standard affair that's solid throughout with a typical stamped locking clasp.

A 1/1000 chronograph which no real mortal will have any need for, but sure makes for good bragging rights.

The full-face LCD shows information of date / day / digital time in time-keeping mode with an outer ring showing seconds elapsed, while in the chronograph and countdown timer modes needless to say they show the expected.
There is also an alarm mode with 2 different time settings, and it's pretty decent just hardly used since that's what phones are for :P

...and...the necessary lume shot of hands and indices filled with Seiko's lumibrite.

See a drawback here? you have no idea where 12 is, unlike on a speedmaster with 12 having 2 dots either side of.

Working blind in the dark, the lack of backlight and its symmetrical case also does one no favors with feeling which way is up.
Only real way is to feel for the clasp to tell which way is which.

For those who wonder on its quartz accuracy, well after one month it's running at +5.
Not too bad for a piece that can be bought for under RM600.

Now i'm already lazy to type, so I'll just end it with another wrist shot.

A man's watch is a very cherished thing. You steal that, you might as well be stealing his soul.

Thanks for the review. I like the design, considered to buy it, but too bad it doesn't have backlight.

I don't understand why Seiko likes to continue unique watches such as these. And if I'm not mistaken Breitling's watch is similar to this too, right? I think it was the Emergency.
