Hi Guys,

What are your thoughts on the best German watches, if they are German, than one might expect extremely well made watches, superior quality.

What will the best German watch be?

I would say Junghans. Apart from its prestigious brand, Junghans is famous for its Max Bill series of watches which are designed based on Bauhaus principles. Their watches are reasonably priced with guaranteed qualities.

Vostok is Russian  :)

I'm enamored by Lange.
I recommend videos on Youtube that shows how they pay attention to every single component (every tiny component is finished by hand).
Their design really really speaks to me though I suspect I will never be able to afford one (family and financial security comes first  ;D)

I post pictures of watches in nature:

Not sure what's THE best la tbh, Germans srsly got plenty mad watchmaking skillz. One thing's for sure, ALS just tip of the iceberg. Some further examples at various price points:

Marco Lang
Lehmann
Kudoke
Moritz Grossman
Tourby
Hentschel
Tutima
Dornbluethe & Sohne
Felipe Pikulik
Guinand

That's for sure, Glashutte has alot of watch brands operating there, it'll be great if we could drop for a factory tour.

It is an interesting idea definitely, the manufactures there actually do cater for factory tours of their facility, along with the museum. Pricing also looks to be reasonable relative to CH. Unfortunately everything is closed due to the pandemic, likely to only be available next year by the looks of it.

Lang & Heyne is amazing (though their house style is not for everyone). I had casually enquired about prices and they ended up sending me this thick catalogue with fantastic pictures. They recommended that I go to Sincere to see a Fredrick III in person; Sincere has a couple in stock.

I have been looking at getting a Laco classic flieger for a while now. Not sure if it is going to be reliable long term, but it sure looks the part.

actuallly what describe the german design language for a german watch?

the bauhas minimalist design face?
the industrial over-engineered watch - built to withstand a nuclear war while going diving?
or industrial elegance - beauty but still fully functional ?

According to my German friend, Nomos is the best option for the money paid and finishing he can get in the movement.

best is subjective here - but for me Nomos, Junghans and a lesser known Defakto (microbrand) are relatively more scarce vs other more common brands.

also ranked that in order of price lol...i used to have a Defakto Detail (single hand watch) and it was always a conversation starter...very minimalist too.
