With outgoing personality, frequent environment change job, dress watch never attract my attention over the years.
Lately, the banner ad of Frederique Constant on this Malaysia Watch Forum homepage caught my attention, these few words especially led me to click on the banner to link me to FC homepage to find out more : -
Manufacture - Silicium - Geneve
but why?
FC never give us the perception of high positioning of its product over the years, i often remember its popular open heart watches, so when i read the words of Geneve, Manufacture & Silicium, all these words only link to super high end swiss brand, i was thinking to browse and google to know more of its manufacture line
to my big big surprise - the manufacture movement pieces are so affordable!
Next i visited Frederique Constant newly open boutique at Parkson, Pavillion to touch and feel its watches. Fantastic service from the friendly sales assistant.

I was thinking to celebrate the Goat Year with the new zodiac series, but it still not landed on Msia shore
i left with this.... beautiful simple clean dial design - slimline moonphase !

its modern dress watch size ( diameter of 42mm & height of 11.3mm) Rose gold plated steel case is light and comfortable to wear.
through the Convex sapphire is the curved Silver Dial, applied Rose Gold Plated indexes and hands matching the overall design of the watch

the rose gold plated onion crown was fitted with 2-O-Rings to guarantee Water-resistant to 3 ATM.

the watch fitted with very well made fine alligator skin strap
buckle is signed with FC logo and rose gold plated

the spec - 26 jewels, 28'800 alt/h and 42 power reserve, with Hours, Minutes, Moonphase, Date by hand
movement is finely finished, all seen area has been finished - perlage, sunburst, blued screw, engraving, etc

beautiful dress watch with finely made in house movement at super affordable price !!!
and the compulsory MWF wrist shots

Nice catch. This makes an excellent alternative to the usual sports models.
I agree that Frederique Constant offers excellent value with manufacture movement and exquisite finishing.
Thanks for sharing.
BTW is this particular movement using silicium hairspring?

I think so it's using a silicium hairspring and also a silicon escape wheel... Maybe Chris can take some macro shots?

FC continues to surprise me. They have been making watches like this moon phase or their new perpetual calendar that look like something Vacheron Constantin or Jaeger-LeCoultre would make (i.e. traditional and clean) and even have in-house movements to boast!
With regards to the metals, the trend is cyclic. While yellow gold is not in trend now, it remains timeless. I suspect yellow gold will return soon enough :).

a fren wearing one after 5 yrs...
not much an issue, even with scratches on it...
but if u hv a concern, better get the rose gold, still very affordable
