That's my opinion, any different suggestion?
Hi Yoda,
Seiko has been producing watches for so many years and churning out so many models. I guess it's quite a task to just limit the cast to "top ten".
IMHO, there are probably 10 classes of Seiko watches worth collecting:
(a) Military watches (WWII period) - very rare. Perhaps they were worn by Kamikaze pilots so there are not many left...
(b) Seiko vintage timepieces from the 1950's and 1960's (non-GS, non-KS) - these include the Seikomatics, the Laurels, the Crown...etc.
(c) The vintage Seiko GS and KS of the 1960's and 1970's.
(d) The Seiko Astron - said to be the 1st quartz watch.. We can't discuss Seiko without mentioning its quartz timepieces.
(e) The Seiko automatic chronographs Cal. 6139, Cal. 6138, Cal. 7016.....
(f) Seiko non-shrouded divers - Cal. 6217MAS, 6105-800X, 6105-811X, 6309/6306, 6159-7000, 7545 divers....
(g) Seiko shrouded divers - the mechanical and quartz tunas!!!
(h) Seiko analog quartz chronographs of the early 1980's- Cal.7A28, 7A38 and 7A48. Reputedly the first all analog display chronograph watches in the world. These watches were known to be over-engineered.
(i) Seiko mechanical GMT watches - Cal 6117.
(j) Seiko "special watches" - railroad grade pocket watches, quartz watches with smooth sweeping second hand, anti-magnetic watches...
Have I missed anything??
- Add notes: Yes, I forgot about the Bell-Matics!!! Cal. 4006.
